Wednesday Walk - The Challenge Introduction

Wednesday Walk - The Challenge introduction

I set myself a challenge last week to get out for a few weekday walks and get shots for each day ot the daily color challenge, and while doing that it gave me an idea for another challenge I would invite you all to join.

Wednesday walk challenge

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Try and get a few shots not just one

You can look for anything in generally or decide on one subject you want to get shots of.

Try to limit yourself to a set distance or time from the starting location, say 5 Blocks, 5 Minutes walk or whatever and see what you can find in that short distance

make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join it this week please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I wil try and visit them all.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

For my Entry for the challenge for this week I have decided to focus on Water tanks

One thing I notice a lot in the city is all the water tanks on top of the buildings, they are hard to miss they are almost everywhere, but so many these days are focused either only looking ahead thinking about where they are going, or glued to their mobile devices, and they all miss seeing so much in the city , just look around and there is so much to see.

Well in this case its more about looking up than looking around. Take this first shot for example, there’s a water tank which has a style of its own and also in view is the tower of some cool building.

And this second shot which I went for a Sepia style edit has a couple of more of the water tanks, I guess whoever built this one is very safety focused with the railings all around the ladder.

Just down the street a little from the previous shot I saw these three tanks very close together, I know to many maybe most people there just plain old water tanks and nothing special but I think they add a bit of a charm to the city.

Here we see a few more of the water towers, and I went for a mono and a little grungy style with this edit.

And a final shot for this post showing 4 more of the water tanks, I as you can tell am quite taken by seeing all the water tanks in the city, but I am not so sure the people who live in the apartment building on the right of this photo would be so impressed as some of those apartments must only have a clear view of the water tank and not see much else of the city.

And here ends my first entry for my new challenge Wednesday walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.
