The importance of the votes of the whales

Yesterday I have seen this nice post from @katy-adelson. When I was looking at her profile, I realized, that this post is not really different to many other posts from her. Even the name of most of her post are the same "📷 Steemitphotochallenge".

What makes this post different and outstanding from all her other posts is the amount of upvotes she got and the amount of money she earned.

While all her other posts are upvoted a bit more or less than 10 times and made $ 0.40 in avverage, this special post was upvoted 183 times and made over $ 100. Wow!!!

So what's the reason of this huge difference between her normal upvotes and the upvotes for this very post?

Like I said, the content is similar, the tags she uses are similar and even the titles are similar.

The very same counts for @thebusinessman. Usually he gets between 2 and 3 votes and $ 0.01 per post. But his last post, approximately 2 hours ago, already got him over 19 votes and almost $ 100.

So what do this two posts have in common, that made them earn much much more than usual?

Well, both articles were upvoted by @blocktrades, a whale with huge Steem Power, which made them appear in the trending and/or hot list where more people saw the article and upvoted it.

This shows the importance of #whalepower and the votes of the whales!
