THE WILD-MAN'S WILD FRIENDS VIDEO SERIES - EPISODE 26 - MEDITERRANEAN HOUSE GECKO

Geckos! Crazy cool nocturnal little wall-climbers!

The Mediterranean house gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus) is a cool little gecko that can be found all around the world. Originating in the Mediterranean, they have now been naturalized worldwide in the warmer parts of the world.

Feeding almost exclusively on insects, these cute little reptiles remind us of tiny crocodiles. They are completely nocturnal, and, like many rodents, they like to make their homes where people live. Like many other kinds of lizards, they can detach their tails when they feel threatened, and regrow a new one. The new one will never be as long as the original, but it still grows back.

Their small bodies and wall-climbing abilities make it easy for them to not only hide, but also to hunt. These are one of my all time favorite creatures, and I am blessed to be back in Texas at the moment where I can find some of these once again. For more info on them, check out the video below and enjoy!

The information is the video is original but I did have a quick refresher from this source.
