I decided to dip my toes in the water, and look into what is required of a good witness. I've had a firm commitment to the platform since joining about 3 months ago. I want to see Steem thrive and flourish. Being a witness seems to be a good way to directly serve the community and platform, so I am setting out to learn what I can.
Tonight, I set up a witness node, as well as a seed node. Everything looks good so far, so I'm confident that I'm off to a good start.
I've noticed that this is the point where a lot of people start campaigning for people to vote them as witness. I think that's a bit premature in my case. I've got way too much to learn before I can consider a step like that. Therefore, I'd like to announce the creation of my Witness Exploratory Committee.
The purpose of this step is to learn everything I can and determine if it's appropriate for me to take further action. If I can acquire enough knowledge and identify areas where my contributions would benefit the platform, at that point I might wish to start actively campaigning for support.
In the mean time, I'd like to invite people to test out my seed node. I welcome any feedback that you might have. Thanks!
