Witness Declaration of @dimitrisp

Hey there!

Some of you may have seen my posts, most of you though, haven't.

You can see my original and short "introduceyouself" post here but you don't have to, as I'm about to give you a little more detailed "introduction".

I've also tagged this post as "introduceyourself" because it gives more info about me.

Basic Info about me

I'm Dimitris, I'm 28 years old from Thessaloniki, Greece. I have been using computers since I was 9 (it's been 19 years, wow), and I've been programming since I am 12. I'm no expert programmer, but I'm good at what I do. I am a professional web developer.

I also like managing servers (that's why you read this post right now, since I decided to start a witness server,) and for the past couple months I'm taking some video game development lessons (on hiatus, as for the past 3 weeks I'm working all day, and prefer to hang around here on the little free time I have.)

On a more personal and serious note, I'm battling Reiter's Syndrome (Reactive arthritis) caused after a combination of enteric infection and a much unneeded knee operation. I won't get into more details on this post. You can find more info in wikipedia (you can find a link at the end of this post)

Some of my hobbies: music (I play the guitar, the piano and I occasionally compose music), cryptocurrencies, blogging. In the past I was also a radio producer in a few radio stations in Greece.

Cryptocurrencies

When I first came across Bitcoin in 2013, I wanted to cash all-in, but I didn't have much money, nor a way to buy bitcoin. I bought my first bitcoin (or, better 0.1 bitcoin) in 2015 and started a small provably fair dice site. But fate was cruel, a couple of bugs appeared out of nowhere (figure of speech), and I didn't have time to fix them, so I refunded all the deposits, and closed down the site.

What little crypto remained for me, became Dogecoin, stored in an offline paper wallet. Right now I hold some SJCX, Dogecoin, BTC & ETH (oh, and steem/sbd obviously). Small amounts, that someday I dream to make them bigger. Enough of that though

Witnessing steemit!

I like steemit. I believe that I can contribute a lot to the community, and what a better way than starting a witness server? I intend to give back most of what I generate to various projects such as @minnowbooster and @minnowsupport that have helped me get a little kick-start. I already am a small investor on @minnowbooster, but I intend to help the project even more.

I intend to be a witness for as long as I can finance the server. Witnesses are an integral part of the Steem network. Their servers are processing the blockchain, which holds all the posts, transactions, upvotes, resteems, comments etc that you make. They also make the network secure (the more witnesses, the better), and set the price feed, interest rates and account creation fees.

If you want to learn more about witnesses, you'll find a link in the bottom of the post.

Here you can see the hamster taking a break from powering up the server after the initial seed was completed around Midnight of July 9th (1PM EEST)

I intend to get a better server at a later point that won't need hamsters and stuff to keep it powered up.

Vote for me please! :)

And now, we've come to the begging part! You've read my serious and silly post, and it's time to decide.

You can vote for a maximum of 30 witnesses. You probably have voted for 3, tops 4 witnesses. Care to make me No5? :) :)

You can vote for me (and anyone else who runs a witness server) here: https://steemit.com/~witnesses

If you don't see me on the Top 50 witness list (which won't happen anytime soon, there are a lot bigger contributors than me,) you'll have to go all the way to the bottom of the page, where it says:

If you would like to vote for a witness outside of the top 50, enter the account name below to cast a vote.

Type in my username: dimitrisp and then click "Vote".

or you can upvote for me from the console-based wallet like this:

vote_for_witness YOURACCOUNT dimitrisp true true

That's all for now. This was probably my longest post, and I owe you a big thank you if you made it to the end.
