Introduction
This story begins in the year 2029, one decade after the first trials of genetic modification on animal egg cells and three decades after the invention of the block-chain. Genetic modification hasn't been new to humans, but apart from see-through frogs, featherless chickens and fluorescent zebra fish the rest had remained untouched until a project of CRISPR decided to manipulate the dna of egg cells of a dog, creating the first genetically modified animal with calculated and pre-planned dna injected to make its strength and abilities super-human... I mean animal.
On the first tens of puppies they noticed early on that the powers were too much for their body to take, after further altering the dna and improving it over time, they managed to perfectly balance usage with a genetically modified diet and the dogs could grow and live full lives, not being damaged by the changes while growing stronger over time. Many started using the GEMO dogs for illegal cage fighting or to steal important items and be able to get away with it. Others started injecting them into other animals and experiment on altering the powers and abilities the animals could get from birth.
After a couple of years it got out of hand, there was software to help you alter the dna with your preferences, add special abilities. There was a market on pre-made working dna injection batches being sold to people who wanted their animals to have a GEMO fetuses with different abilities. Laws were set in the year 2022, no unofficial modification of fetuses unless its for health-reasons, those shots were purchasable in pharmacies.
Breeding of the GEMO animals remained allowed and here is when the fun started, the next generation GEMO animals had their abilities combined, they had Ξchips inserted into their right eye to record all activity and register it on the block-chain and every animal was given an ID number, a rank depending on the genes they carried; there were either type A (GEMO with GEMO), type B (GEMO with unmodified animal) second generation GEMO animals.
The laws made the already existing GEMO animals very rare and unique over the coming years, many of them had mastered their special powers, some of them weren't as useful and lived normal animal lives, usually as pets while others invested in the GEMO animals and kept them in farms waiting for buyers to come running. But it wasn't until after the GEMO animals had their children that the price of the original ones went sky high. Everyone wanted a second generation GEMO animal type A, with the technology in 2029 and the way the animals were evolving a new era began that reminded a lot of nostalgic people about the early days of handheld computer games. Only now it was reality.
Over the years the nickname to the second generation animals went from them at one point only having been pixels in fantasy games, to now standing in front of you known as Pixies.
Prologue
Without going too much into everything that has changed let's jump into the life of Ken, a four-teen year old boy who is counting down the days to his next birthday. All of his friends at school already have a scooter drivers license and he is the unlucky one born late in the year who has to wait the longest, but then again he had the most time to work for his first electric scooter and will be able to get a really good one. That's what he keeps telling himself as he waits for his dad who is about to bring home his present, a couple days before the license test.
Ken hears the doorbell and rushes to open, his dad greets him and seems very excited to see his son, but there is no scooter in sight.
"Hey let's go in I got something cool to show you" his dad blurts out as he tosses his shoes and power walks into the living room.
-"Dad, what is it, where is the Scooter? Had it not arrived at the shop yet?"
"Oh the Scooter? Oh right yeah I didn't have time for that today, look at this!!" he pointed to what looked like some sort of cat carrier.
"Whats in it dad? A pet? Its too dark I can't..." and then it happened, the cat opened its eyes, but it wasn't normal cat eyes, they were glowing and one of them had a red text that seemed to be ticking.
It wasn't a cat.

I have been working on it for a few hours on how to evolve the story to bring in more action, sci-fi and thrill into the upcoming chapters! There will also be drawings created by myself included in the next one, to bring a better picture of this world and the future the main character lives in.
