"She was still wearing her green Bargain Mart employee vest over a flower-print dress."

Once upon a time there was a lonely boy that met a lovely girl. He was darkness and she was light, both of them felt drawn to each other for some reason. He tried to keep away because he knew that the darkness inside of him would snuff out her light. She had blonde hair and mesmerizing grey eyes and a tendency to wear flower-print dresses. Her name was Addison and his was Derek. He was the golden boy, surrounded by many but loved by none. People thought they loved him but no one truly did since he kept his true self hidden, Derek was twisted and broken and the boy knew no one could ever fix him. Still as time went by, his resolve to stay away weakened and hope bloomed inside of him.

One rainy day, Addison was sitting at the school's front steps waiting; her ride home left and she called her parents but it would be a long while until they arrived. Derek was getting out of football practice when he saw her and against his better judgement his footsteps carried him over to her.

-What are you doing here? -he asked when he was close enough.
-I'm waiting for my parents -she replied without looking his way.
-I could give you a ride if you'd like -

Addison thought long and hard about it, she didn't know him well but she didn't want to wait two more hours there. And there was something about him that was intriguing, so she said yes.

That was the start of everything, Derek couldn't hold back anymore, he was a moth drawn to the flame. And what a flame it was because they crashed and burnt. At first everything was fine, they started as friends and eventually became a couple. Date nights were fun and romantic and their love evolved. Until one day when Addison snapped, they couldn't have a conversation without fighting and nothing was ever good enough for her. Truth was Addison was a black hole and by the time Derek realized that it was too late, the gravitational field impossible to resist. No one knew what went wrong but them, their history written in the stars, a map only they could read. Until he saw her again.
