Accustomed to a hostile environment in the desert of northern Kenya, and to quarrels with neighboring tribes for grass, water and livestock, the Turkana community now faces an underground threat: oil.
The local community is warning that the perforations of the recent discovery of the raw material have affected the pastures and could decimate the livestock, and an onset of production activity would further deteriorate these conditions.
