The Wait
Five-minute #freewrite - Prompt FIVE by @mariannewest
She looked down at her phone for what must be the hundredth time in the last hour only to see it tick past 5 PM with no call from the adoption agency. Normally she was super happy to see the clock hit five as it meant work was done and the evening’s adventures could begin but not this week, this week everything depended on getting that phone call before 5pm on Friday.
If that deadline is missed than another two weeks will pass before they get to meet their little man. While for him nothing has changed. For his parents to be everything had changed. Time has never moved so slowly.
Packed and ready they wait, they wait until tomorrow morning and hope each minute to get that call before 5pm letting them know when they can travel to meet their son. One of the most painful waits for one of the most precious gifts of life.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story, anyone who reads my posts regularly would know this is based off a true story, my husband and I are waiting for a phone call to pick up our adopted son, today was day one of the week that can decide our earliest travel date. We are so excited to meet him!
