Thought Bubble Thursdays #0 - The Origin Story!

It's Thursday, and you all know what that means… tomorrow's Friday! But, aside from that, I usually write a series narrating things I used to do. Emphasis on "usually" because I haven't been able to post for four weeks straight. So, is that something that I used to do as well? Time will tell, but for now I'm going to alternate it with a new weekly series called…

Not many of you know, but I'm a huge comic book nerd. Back then, I could narrate whole comic book events at the drop of a dime. I want to be a comic book writer more than I want to be a fiction writer, as to why, I'll get to that in a bit. With the resurgence of comic book movies in recent years, I've been having the time of my life. I'm sure the people I watch with are getting tired of all my trivia and comparisons to the source material, but hey, they asked for it!

What a time to be a comic book nerd! Seeing all of the characters and stories that you've read in 2D come to life is just so wonderful. That's why I decided to dedicate my Thursdays to pester a whole new audience with commentary about comic books and all its glorious depictions.

The Origins of a Nerd

When I was a kid, I didn't have a lot of friends. I mean, I still don't, not because I was always a loner but because of a lot of different factors that I've posted about in the past, which I don't want to get into in this post. So, I turned to creating worlds on my own. But, when I'm not creating, I'm consuming inspiration from different media. Be it nature or other fictional worlds, I took inspiration wherever I could get them. The thing is, I'm a very slow reader. Sometimes I get stuck in a line for several seconds before I move on to the next one. It's quite ironic since I write a lot of long chapters haha! But anyway, coupled with my love for drawing when I was a kid, I gravitated towards comic books and graphic novels.

It was accessible, fun and easy to digest, especially for a kid who was only starting to learn English. The first comic book that I read was the first encounter of Spider-Man and the original X-Men (who were known as X-Factor at the time), so I mostly stayed with them at the beginning. As I mentioned in my Drawing post, I eventually expanded to Knuckles the Echidna (of which I have the complete collection of), then moved on to other titles like The Flash and others.

No matter the twists and turns, the one thing you can trust comic books to be is to be there. Sure, books are cancelled or cycled off, but all of their stories remain alive in the minds of the readers and creators. Friends have come and gone, but all of the wonderful characters that I've come to know have remained.

To Infinity and On to the Next Page

Since I'm a frustrated comic book writer, the best thing that I can do to satisfy that hunger is to just write about them. As much as possible, I'll stick to mainstream, but write about topics that would not be found elsewhere. Unlike other series that I've posted, there is no grand plan with this. Think of this as something like @hanshotfirst's Geeky Dad Reviews, only this isn't a review and I'm not a dad yet. I'll try to offer up a unique perspective that adds value to the viewing experience. After reading my posts, I want readers to rewatch the movies and have a different experience.

Will I be serious or will I be humorous? Who knows? Do I know? I, uh… I don't know, y'know? Like a comic book, I'm going to try to write this not knowing the end. I've listed basic ideas, and I'll try to flesh them out as I go. But, I'll try my best not to get ahead of myself. Heck, I won't even pressure myself to write something every week. Posts that have very little quality, no matter the amount it earns, steals from the STEEM blockchain.

Will this be the only post in the series? Hopefully not.

Will this series improve your lives and make you better lovers? Absolutely!

Will you join me in this journey by commenting on this post and checking back next week?
