Creative Writing Challenge - Task #8 - Mix and Create | The Game

Approaching her destination Gina took a final glance down the crowded street. Her intuition kicked in, the hair on the back of her neck stood up. Every part of her screamed get out. Turn around NoW! As she inched forward a shadowy figure appeared in the rear view mirror. The man that had hired her cautioned this could be a dangerous job.

Right now Gina's biggest priority was staying alive. Damn why hadn't she thought to wear a disguise? She felt like the whole world had eyes on her. She didn't like violence, but it had a way of finding her. She flipped open the glove box, revealing Ruger. A fire extinguisher was tucked beside her seat, and a can of wasp spray was wedged into the pocket of the door. Gina felt around for her baseball bat she kept under the seat.

The van she was driving looked like an old beater, but she had friends that had hooked her up with some extras a few years ago, when she lived in Northern California. When she hit the gas pedal the V-8 kicked in and she could turn that baby on a dime. Hidden in various places through out the interior was the precious Backgammon Board with all of its pieces made of pure gold. In totality the cargo weighed in at over two million dollars.

These days people would kill for a hit of crack or a piece of tail. Gina tried to act cool, turning on the radio to clear her head. Somebody honked as they drove by and it startled her. Screw the radio! She flipped it back off and checked the mirrors again before heading over the bridge. Just her luck they were raising the bridge to let some oversized yacht pass. Her nerves were already frayed. At least she was the first one in line. Nothing worse than being pressed between two vehicles. Finally the cop smacked the front of the van and waved her on.

Less than a mile to go according to her calculations. Once she exited the bridge she was to make a left into a marina called the Salty Dog. There it was, she could see it from the bridge, but something was terribly wrong. Surrounded by fire engines and police cars nothing was left of the place!
