Once upon a swampy evening, Vanya crossed the bridge believing she was free to move about unbothered by the gator feedings. Self-absorbed, she saunters steely. Suddenly the world surreally spins between the axis of a murky surface and wet blackness.

Nearly panicked, barely breathing, captured leg profusely bleeding, curls her body 'round the gator just to keep that leg from breaking. Swiftly, she's still suffocating, yet her mind is calculating whilst her arm is reaching, grabbing, desperate for her diamond dagger.

First, she flails, her world still spinning. Then, she gets it, grips it, pulls it, swings her arm, and then starts stabbing -- but that only makes it madder. Suddenly, the spinning staggers. To the depths, the gator drags her. Punching, scratching, stabbing faster... yet, it seems, her stabs don't matter.

Praying that her leg won't shatter, braves a gamble and bends backwards. With both hands, she drives the dagger deep within its liable chin.

Leg free, she grins. Revenge begins.

Beast in tow, she swims to surface. Drinks air once there with her bonus. Scares off scavengers with hisses. Drags the beast upon the bridge and vents its chest and reaches in and claims the heart and sips its sauce and licks it like a lolli-meat-pop.

Hears a stumble in the bushes, shifts her eyes to see the movement: T'was some young one, barely blooming, cam in hand for filmed amusement. Shocked, now frozen. Standing, staring... Fearful of the sight he's seeing.

Tickled by his frightful sight, she bears her teeth and takes a bite, then -- smiling sweetly, blood still dripping -- holds out the heart in offering.

No longer stunned -- he flees, distressed.

Shrugging, Vanya ingests the rest.

So, my goal is to complete this entire story in trochaic octameter (inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven). However, considering how long it took to complete just this part (almost a week), it may prove to be more of an undertaking than I expected. Might take some time to complete...

As always, feedback is welcome.

Thank you for reading! _
