Typically, foot cramps suddenly arise and cause a sharp, intense pain that lasts for about three minutes. Your feet and fingers are a common place for cramps and spasms. Your feet support the weight of your body throughout the day, sometimes when walking, standing or moving faster, and often in inappropriate shoes.
Suspend your activities. If you exercise or perform an activity that causes the spasm or cramp, stop altogether.
Avoid continuing with the activities you know that trigger the extra strain on your feet and that produce pain and cramps.
