ULOG #1 - 7 Day Positivity Challenge - Day 1 - Time

7 Day Positivity Challenge - Day 1

Time

Three times a charm

So I have now been nominated by three individuals, @viking-ventures, @happycrazycon & @holisticmom for this 7 Day Positivity Challenge and then encouraged by @danielsaori to join in when I found the time. So that is what my day one shall be about time.

I also stumbled upon @surpassinggoogle's ulogger's after being invited to play on @dreemsteems's mistake post and fell in love with the quote he stated, so much so that did some more research and given time is limited decided that what I write is always tied back to me so this post would fit as my first ulog as well as any.

Time is one of those things that can easily slip through your fingers even if you set out to use it wisely, it is also one of those things once spent cannot be regained. Why then do we so often wish it away and at the same time wish for more?

Have you ever seen the movie "Click" produced by and starring Adam Sandler? The one where he continues to fast-forward through all the "boring/tedious" parts of his life only to soon realise that he was missing out on life itself as the remote takes control and starts to auto fast forward for him.

That is the perfect example of those moments we all quietly wish away. I mean who hasn't at one time or another wished away that last five minutes before knockoff, while wishing for an extra five minutes for lunch, or wishing the week away for that party or event on the weekend, only to wish that the event lasted forever. We all do and think nothing of it but time is something I have been thinking about a lot.

Not so much wishing it away but wanting it to slow down so that I had more. More to spend with my new adopted son, more to spend with my husband, more to spend on Steemit both posting I hate seeing more than three days between posts but with conflicting priorities it's been five sad days between posts and curating for the @asapers, more for my health advocacy projects and more for work, not because I want to work more but because like most of us I have deadlines that must be hit. Fun of being an accountant at year end!

Talking of slowing time down, why does time seem to speed up the older we get. This is something I thought I would never understand but after reading "The Productivity Epiphany" by Vincent Harris I was surprised I had never put two and two together before, as the answer is super simple.

You know what I am talking about right when you were a child summer holidays felt like forever, and when your mum told you to wait five minutes it seemed like hours, then as an adult, any holiday seems to disappear in the blink of an eye and that five minutes never seems long enough.

The simple answer is best spoken about in percentages... Yes, I am an accountant and numbers matter cause I a good at them, not maths so much but numbers in general. At age 5, when your mum tells you its bedtime in five minutes, you think there is enough time to build a forte and pull every book out of the cupboard because that five minutes represents a much larger percentage of your life.

What do I mean by that? It's simple at the age of 5, one year represents 20% of your life, at ten one year represents 10% of your life, at 50, that one year represents a sad 2%, and for this reason seems one fifth as long as it did at age ten.

Moral of the story, time is never slowing down and sadly year on year it will appear to move faster, so never put off today what you can do tomorrow as tomorrow is a smaller percentage of your life and will slip through your fingers faster than the day before.

What did this teach me? Stop wishing time away, even the mundane can be fun if you mix it up, love the time you do have and use it wisely. The main thing is to do what I can do and the rest will just have to wait, I do know that if I want to do it all then I will need to manage my time better but for now, I am finding my feet in the world of motherhood which is a fun place to be, the rest will happen maybe just as a slower pace regardless of the time moving faster.

As always thanks for reading and hope to see you next time.

Power Up and Steem ON!

How to play this challenge...

  • Write a post about something you have to be positive about today. This could be anything from being thankful for your current situation, someone being nice to you, being thankful for your friends and family, or even being thankful for the opportunity you have been given here on Steemit

Just keep it positive

  • Do this for 7 days in a row if you get nominated Note that I will not be doing this continuously but I will get 7 days out.

  • Mention three people who should do this on each day. Feel free to complete this challenge or not, it is up to you. It has taken me over a month to get day one out and it may take me another month to get the seven days out.

Given this has been out for a few months some of the people I mention may have already been nominated by another, so feel free to do it a second time or abstain from this round. I nominate @imaginedragon, @helenoftroy and @andysantics48

  • Tag it with #7daypositivitychallenge and include these rules at the bottom of your post.
Tip: You need to put the # in front of 7daypositivitychallenge or it will not let you use the tag.

  • Include a picture of something positive Related to your story if possible.
