These days, I have been mentoring a group of new Steemit members who are using the Utopian Platform. With many new changes, there are things we need to keep adjusting. But there is something that have been quite consistent with the Utopian Platform and this is the one thing that new Steemians need to work on, thus this blog post.
It is urgently important that we work on our followers on the Utopian Platform. While this Platform rewards our effort in our contribution to Open Source Projects by looking at the quality of our content, what is as important , if not more important is that we need to build a good following on the Steemit Platform.

Work on your followers to increase the votes/rewards. My vote is now primarily based on that, humans rule. Good luck!
My piece of humble advice:
1. Don't use bots to vote you. It is not human voting
2. Work on your Real Followers
Look at our Present Followers on your Steemit Blog
In these 3 months on Steemit, I have accumulated 600+ followers.
Actually the 'number' of followers mean nothing if these followers don't follow you and read your posts. You want everyone of your followers to read your posts. And you also want them to upvote you after reading your posts.
Since Utopian's vote is based on human rules, it looks to see how many of your followers are actually voting for you.
Click on the Follower Tab on your Steemit Blog Page
When you click on that link, the following page will show up.
Clean Up Your Followers on Steemit! Get rid of all Nominal Followers!
It is better you have followers that truly follow you and read your post.
This is something I think worthwhile doing to filter your Following.
- Look up the profile of each of your followers
- Actually this is easier for new Steemians to do when you are new on board because you don't have that many followers
- But if you have thousands of followers, this task is too daunting
- For new Steemians, please try to keep your group of followers active and take out those who are just there by 'name' - nominal followers. I wish someone had told me this in the beginning.
The page lists our your followers alphabetically.
- if you have lots of followers like me, what I think is possible is perhaps go through the 'a' list today and work through them.
- Followers that I want to keep, I don't need to do anything
- Followers that I don't want them to follow anymore as they are dead followers, just in name, I can 'mute' it.
- Then the next day, I will work on the 'b' list.
- The following day, I will work on the 'c' list.
- So by the end of the month, you can clean up your followers and can see who your true followers are.
FIND OUT WHO YOUR TRUE FOLLOWERS ARE!
In this way, it will help you to understand why Utopian-io reward you because it looks at WHAT KIND of followers you have. True followers read your post and if they like it, they usually upvote you. But if you have thousands of followers and only get 20 upvotes, it shows that you really don't have a good following. You only have numbers.
After you filter out your dead followers, you will feel good about your Followers!
This will affect the way you write your blog. You have an audience who are there to read when you post.
Visit Your True Followers and Comment on their blog
This is what I sometimes do. I click on my true followers and I read their blog. I comment on their blog post to get some interaction going also.
This engagement also helps them to click on your recent post to see what you have been doing. And when these exchanges are active, they will read yours posts in their feed.
This is how you can get more votes from them when you post.
Let's face it. We are all busy people. We need to "visit" our followers and see how they are doing also.
