AAKOM is a new project that I am initially launching as a sub-project of MAP (Minnows Accelerator Project).
The new legend on the MAP Forum homepage reads: “To encourage and promote creative content that explores the limits of human experience.”
That’s as brief as I could make it! Essentially, the aim is to explore personal experiences of extraordinary states of mind plus investigate legitimate research that is trying to unravel the underlying structures that give rise to such experiences. I wish to explore the interface between esoteric and exoteric sciences.
Brief background
The last Pew Research Center survey on Mystical Experiences found almost half of Americans claimed some form of religious or mystical experience. Just imagine that, half of people on Steemit have had some form of extraordinary experience; apart from a few bloggers, there is general silence on the issues this raises.
More accurately, most people feel more comfortable discussing such issues in “private”, but this is an environment created by a mainstream culture of distraction and destruction. If you are more than a compliant consumer then there is likely a medication that will stop your spiritual progress! For me, that’s a culture that has hit rock bottom.
Also interesting, is that some 30% of respondents were not affiliated to any established religion. This raises an important point: extraordinary experiences may sometimes have a religious imprint but they are independent of any dogma – they are just part of being human.
Already, we see plenty of issues being raised, but this is supposed to be an introductory post, not a thesis! So, how can everyone take part?
How to participate
I have created this new account @aakom and it will publish updates and information as the project progresses. I, @rycharde, shall publish my own articles and editorial pieces that will be my own personal opinions.
To keep up to date, please follow @aakom.
There is also a sub-forum on chainBB named #aakom. You will need to login to chainBB to access it, but as articles are posted across the Steem platforms, your posts will appear within the forum if you use the #aakom tag as the first of your article tags.
There is also a Discord chatroom and opportunities to curate content. I shall write about all of these within the next day or so.
And finally…
I leave you with two quotes that, for me, sum up the battle for our freedom to become extraordinary.
“How much truth can a spirit bear, how much truth can a spirit dare? More and more that became for me the real measure of value.” Friedrich Nietzsche, Ecce Homo (1908).
“The individual may think that the most important reality is his own existence, but this is only his personal point of view. This lacks historical perspective. Man does not have the right to develop his own mind. This kind of liberal orientation has great appeal. We must electronically control the brain. Someday armies and generals will be controlled by electric stimulation of the brain." Jose Delgado, Congressional Record, vol. 118, No. 26 (1974).
Game on.
