A Dog Absorbing Its Surrounding - A Stencil Watercolor Painting

I painted this stencil dalmatian over the weekend. Unfortunately I didn't take any progress photos because I had a busy weekend. This painting is a part of a series of dog paintings I currently working on. You can find the first two paintings on these links - SAC: What's Up Dog Stencil Acrylic Painting and Love Me, Please? Stencil Acrylic Painting & the Reason I Don't Own Pets.

The dog is alert to its surrounding, absorbing its environment - the smell, sight, sound - and pondering them all with fascination. This painting reminds me of Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem, Dog. Here's the excerpt...

...the dog trots freely in the street
and sees reality
and the things he sees
are bigger than himself
and the things he sees
are his reality...

...although what he hears is very discouraging
very depressing
very absurd
to a sad young dog like himself
to a serious dog like himself
But he has his own free world to live in
His own fleas to eat
He will not be muzzled...

...the dog trots freely in the street
and has his own dog’s life to live
and to think about
and to reflect upon
touching and tasting and testing everything
investigating everything
without benefit of perjury...
