“Grass at Sunset” Collaborative Art with @everlove

Grass at Sunset

Inspired by collaboration with @everlove see this post for the original picture.

This turned into a bit of a color experiment, I was looking though a bunch of my photos and wanted something that I thought would work well for the red color. It is always fun to learn and try different things. These collaborations have been very fun and encouraging for me to do.

Hopefully the picture looks like someplace special. Fall colors of grass covered hills blending into the sunset sky.

Process

The background sunset picture is a HDR image of a blend of three photos that I took. I liked the clouds and colors and thought it might be nice to combine with the photo of the grass.

I took the original photo from @everlove and made a brush out of it blending three images to give the brush some variation. I painted the basics of the form of the grass using the texture brush I made adjusting the size to paint over most of the foreground. Using the clone stamp tool and smudge brush I touched up the area making it look a bit better and made this image:

I ran this through a chalk auto-painting effect to get this image:

I combined the results with a masked overlay using soft lighting layer effect to highlight some of the areas of the original picture to get the first image.
