The other day, I was meeting up with friends in a coffee shop in a close by town. Just so you know, I am in San Diego and many of the smaller cities which used to be way east, north or south of San Diego have all grown into one big area covered with houses.
You are driving along a road, one house next to another. And suddenly, the street goes from smooth and beautiful to full of potholes - or vice versa. That, and a city limit sign, is the only indication that you left one city and entered another.
So, I drove 5 minutes to get to the next town with the annoying reality of parking meters in all downtown parking spots.
Needless to say, I don't park downtown. A couple of blocks walking is the only requirement for free parking.
I had a nice walk toward the cafe and saw this for the first time.
Usually, I don't come from the back and was so happy that I got to see this mural.
It covers the back of the building.
I am not sure how I feel about the seahorse there since we are about 20 mi from the ocean and I think it would be cool to keep going along the blank wall and make the trashcans disappear into the painting - but that is pricey.
An otherwise extremely boring building was made special through art. I love that so much!!!
Do you have murals in your town? Do you love them? Hate them? Or not care?
