Surreal Art Conest: Entries (Part 1)

contest1.jpg

We're at the end of the first day of my Surreal Art Contest. That means if you're interested in contributing for a chance to win from a pool of 20 SBD worth of prizes, you have 6 days left to create a surreal artwork.

I decided that I wanted to showcase all of the artwork submitted to the contest. Whether or not these entries end up winning prizes, they all deserve a chance to shine in the spotlight.

Without further ado...

This striking piece was created by @saifulramadhan. The work depicts a series of undefined coloured shapes, but when they're all put together they resemble a brightly coloured butterfly. The artist used a variety of medium to create the final look including pencil, marker, watercolour paint and spray paint.

This colourful piece of art was created by @artzanolino. To me, the chameleon seems to be lost in a vortex of colour and pattern. The artwork is a multimedia piece made using a combination of acrylic painting, collage and Photoshop.

The last submission of the day comes from @marxause. It's a pencil drawing of a headless (and partially skinless) man. The artist encourages the viewer to understand and define it however they see fit. How would you interpret a piece like this?

Bonus Art

As a bonus, I'll be drawing an original surreal piece of art for every day of the contest. My drawings are not submissions to the contest, because it wouldn't be fair for me to enter the competition that I'm judging. I just wanted to join in the fun!

The piece is called, The Tree of Life. If you like what you see, you can look at the original post here.

I'd like to say a big thanks to all those who have participated so far. Remember, there are still 6 days to go and 20 SBD worth of prizes to be won! Enter the contest here.
