We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
So if you're unfamiliar with my art posts, most of my art tend to be presents for my friends! It's always so difficult to buy things for people these days, and it just doesn't feel personal to me so I tend to opt for drawing something instead! Nothing more personal than a one-of-a-kind artwork I think!
Just like this insane art piece I did for one of my gaming buddies' birthday in 2020:
So this was an art piece for one of my mods on Twitch - Nightsy! I actually didn't have much time to draw this since I was rushing for Sean's birthday piece.. It's tough when there are so many birthdays so close together. 😣
Anyway I didn't really have any big plans for this other than drawing "Nightsy" himself! He's also an artist and has shared quite a few art pieces on our discord server, and even done some fanart for me too! His OC is a wolf but he also draws himself as a regular human from time to time. But both of us know the pain of drawing people which is why we chose animals to represent ourselves instead. 😆
Here's one of his art pieces that I thought was really cool, especially the colours he used!
And this was one of the many art pieces he drew for me!
We have very different styles and I love it! And he definitely has more experience drawing anatomy than I do, which is why I stick to chibis. And I thought drawing a wolf would be easier but boy was I wrong! I actually had some problems drawing a wolf I thought was acceptable for Nightsy as you can tell from the timelapse.
But this was what I came up with! Nightsy's really quick with his art and he likes drawing his wolf in a hoodie with paint patches so I just used his design. But I also drew him with a green sword since that's the mod icon on Twitch and since he's an artist I drew him holding a paintbrush too. I thought it made him look like a ninja which seems fitting for how fast he draws.
It's pretty simple but it was my first time drawing Nightsy so I just wanted to get a proper design down first. I was kinda iffy on the fur colour and tested another palette that I thought was cool too, following common Shiba Inu fur patterns! I thought this was pretty cute too and gave it some added detail since the piece is kinda plain.
For the background I wanted something like a brick wall following something that Nightsy drew for himself but tried one of my patterned brushes and thought it looked pretty good!
