Hello Steemit friends,
yesterday i asked the question "Exponential growth of STEEM is over?" and also looked on predictions like $10 for STEEM in the next 6 months. Now i found a chart with other well known social media platforms and their monthly active users and researched a similar number for Steemit in a near timeframe.
What is monthly active users?
That are unique users who used the platform at least once in the last 30 days. In other words that are also active users in comparison to the user accounts which are regularly much higher in numbers than the true active users who contribute to the platform. It is possible that active users must post something and that there many more who just upvote, delegate SP, doing just invisible things in the background. But also if there are 2 or 5 times more in the chart below it doesn't matter if we look at the numbers in comparison to other platforms today.
What's the importance of monthly active users?
They show the adoption of a platform. For a new platform this number should constantly growing and the strength of growth is a indicator if there is a competitive advantage or moat.
Now i come to the chart for Steemit in comparison to well known platforms, and yes it's surprising if you're active in this ecosystem:

If you look at the 27,000 monthly active users on Steemit (Sep 1 2017) and compare that to the smallest entry Snapchat in here the monthly active users are about 9,400 times higher for Snapchat! But even crazier is the relation to the number one Facebook which has 74,000 times more monthly active users! Steemit is simply not yet visible in the chart.
Steemit is simply not yet visible..
But if we look back to last year on August 14th @mata published a post where we see 64,381 registered accounts and about 5,000 active accounts which is about 5.4 times higher than last year. If this continues we could see about 150,000 active acounts in Sep 2018 and maybe over 1 Mio registered accounts. Today i think we are near 300,000 registered accounts (about 1/10 of monthly active users), which is about 5 times higher than 2016.
5.4 times higher than 2016
If my numbers are true based on the statistics of @arcange and @mata, then there is such huge and unbelievable potential for Steemit it's just staggering! I looked at possible outcomes of current developments or events which could happen in the near future and hope that will. The next months and years should show a massive growth if Steemit is a competitive platform in this field because it can grab huge market shares easily with a more attractive solution than others. Going mobile is one important step with ease of use in daily life, also the desktop useability with SteemConnect2.0 could be a catalyst.
It's just the beginning!
If we look back when Facebook was founded in 2004, it's now 13 years ago. Steemit exists just since 2016. In the Whitepaper we read..
Steem aims to support social media and online communities by returning much of its value to the people who provide valuable contributions by rewarding them with cryptocurrency, and through this process create a currency that is able to reach a broad market, including people who have yet to participate in any cryptocurrency economy.
Exciting times ahead for us!
