🗞 Deutsche Bank Research: Crypto to Replace Fiat Currencies by 2030
By 2030, the demand for alternative currencies will rise, with digital currencies eventually replacing cash, according to recent research from Deutsche Bank.
In the “Imagine 2030” report, Deutsche Bank strategist Jim Reid raised awareness of the challenges the existing fiat system has encountered in recent years, specifically with the emergence of cryptocurrencies. Reid stipulated that people’s heightened demand for dematerialized means of payment and anonymity could drive more individuals to digital currencies.
Mainstream adoption and co-occurring challenges
In order to gain wider acceptance, digital assets need to overcome three major hurdles. These include perceived legitimacy in the eyes of governments and regulators, which entails price stability and allows for global reach in the payment market. According to Reid, the establishment of alliances with key stakeholders like mobile apps and card providers will enable this development.
🗞Pompliano Joins Board of Blockchain-Based Lending Firm After $103M Raise
Blockchain-based consumer lender Figure Technologies has added Morgan Creek Digital’s Anthony “Pomp” Pompliano, one of the sector’s most exuberant supporters, to its board. It's also announced a $103 million funding round.
Figure plans to use the funds to expand its lending products that run on a blockchain, but the Series C funding round was primarily opportunistic, said chief executive Mike Cagney.
“The company has plenty of cash from an execution standpoint,” said Cagney, who previously led online consumer finance company SoFi.
🗞Ripple Files Last Bid to Dismiss XRP Securities Lawsuit Before Court Meeting
Even if XRP were a security, the investors suing Ripple brought their case far too late for it to proceed, the company said in a new filing.
Further, subsequent arguments made by the plaintiffs contradict their original claims, Ripple said in the Dec. 4 filing with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
It's the latest document filed in the back-and-forth since a federal court appointed Bradley Sostack the lead plaintiff in the ongoing case. Sostack filed his initial amended complaint in August 2019. The plaintiffs claim the company sold XRP as an unregistered security to retail investors.
🗞Multicoin Capital Hires Principal in Asia as Crypto VCs Look East
As American cryptocurrency markets remain relatively subdued, investors are turning to Asia for fresh lifeblood.
Case and point, Multicoin Capital just hired Beijing-based investor Mable Jiang, formerly of Nirvana Capital, to spearhead the venture firm’s hunt for new deals in Asia.
The Texas-based Multicoin started publishing research reports and announcements in Mandarin last summer, so Jiang will also help “capitalize on the structurally broken information flow for secondary-market investment,” the company said in a blog post shared with CoinDesk.
🗞Texas-Based Data Center CyrusOne Hit by Ransomware Attack
Texas-based data center provider CyrusOne has reportedly fallen victim to an attack from REvil (Sodinokibi) ransomware, business tech-focused publication ZDNet reported on Dec. 5.
One of the largest data centers in the United States, CyrusOne has reportedly been exposed to an attack by a variant of the REvil (Sodinokibi) ransomware, which previously hit a number of service providers, local governments and businesses in the country.
The scope of the attack
In an email to Cointelegraph, CyrusOne confirmed:
“Six of our managed service customers, located primarily in our New York data center, have experienced availability issues due to a ransomware program encrypting certain devices in their network.”

Still staying under the resistance line at 0.124$ and we are not able to breat it till now. We did several tests of that line but we don't have the volume and the volatility to be able to break that line. I hope we will finish to break that line because the more we stay just under, the more we have the risk to have a big rejection sending us lower...
