Running Matters #8

IMG_1809.JPG

Thanks everyone for sticking through this week with me, I think you’ll have noticed that the quality of my posts this week was more like what that you were used to from me. In general I had a great week, I managed really well juggling most responsibilities and I also ran 3 days in a row for the first time. I've even taken on 2 more things this week:

  1. I've become a guest writer for the SteemTradeCards project and they launched my first card on Tuesday, which was about @lukestokes. It was really fun to do this and I got to interview and know a fascinating person. Thank you @kus-knee & @airmatti for letting me do this.
  2. I've joined the SmartSteem team after I've been waving their flag for a while in my posts as you're all aware off and I'm now a reviewer for them. So a big thank you to @therealwolf for letting me join the team and I hope I can do more for them in the future. I'm a big believer of the concept.

the first Card I helped create @lukestokes

@lukestokes, thank you for your patience and time for me. You made it very pleasant for me and it was really interesting getting to know you. Thank you for being my first 😉

The week was really going well by all standards until yesterday afternoon. An hour before I would normally leave the office, I was called into a meeting room (by e-mail). I was totally unprepared and had no idea what to expect. The e-mail was only addresses at me and I noticed that no one else was making their way to the meeting room. When I got there, I found my line-manager there with our HR person ...

I had no idea what to expect, so I figured I'll let them handle whatever they want to handle. I'll put my brain to slow, let it take everything in, so that I can respond appropriately. I did not know if they needed me to do something, get someone or anything else, so I didn't even take a seat until I was asked to. That's when they told me the news, things had been going bad with our department lately, we were not receiving any support from the main group and parts of the business were already being outsourced, even to the competition, so what they had to tell me was not a surprise, but it was a shock that it was so quick.

To cut a long story short, I've had my noticed served, which is something very easy in Switzerland. I can't say that I'm unhappy about this, but I do have my responsibilities towards my family. I will go deeper into this and what it means to me and us as a family in a post next week and I'll keep you up-to-date about my developments in the upcoming months.

My highlight of the week!

As you've read above it's been quite a week, but the highlight was what I posted yesterday about, despite everything that had happened in the previous weeks we managed to spend quality time together as a family on the weekend.

What was the hardest day last week?

I guess I don't have to explain why yesterday was the worst day last week. Although in general it was a good week, that is the worst moment of the week due to that announcement.

My posts last week:

So what am I planning for next week?

In the coming week I will make some decisions with regards to what I'm going to do, not that I'll be without a job in just over 3 months time. I'll need to amend my CV, look at doing some courses, register for unemployment benefits and in the mean time also work on my other job.

So what I'm putting down below is not set in stone and depending on how busy the day will be I might have to be flexible or change what I wanted to do.
