Okay I promise the next food post won't be about fast food. 😆 Anyway, we were really hungry the other day and didn't know what we wanted until we saw this huuuuge advertisement in the middle of the mall:
The fried chicken looked so gooood we decided to give Jollibee a try. It had been quite a while since I had Jollibee, even before the Finland trip so it's about time I had it again. The advertisement we saw at the time wasn't just for their normal chicken though, it was for their new Spicy Chickenjoy! I've only ever tried their original chickenjoy so this was something new.
If you've never heard of Jollibee before, it is a Filipino multinational chain of fast food restaurants owned by Jollibee Foods Corporation. As of April 2018, JFC has a total of about 1,200 Jollibee outlets worldwide with presence in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Hong Kong, North America, and Italy. Currently, they have 5 outlets in Singapore, located at Lucky Plaza, Paya Lebar Square, Changi City Point and Novena.
Anyway, they were having a $6 offer for 2 piece chicken set meal, which includes a side dish so that's what we ordered. It was pretty crowded since it was a Friday night so we had to wait quite a while, unfortunately. 🙁
When we finally received our food we were extremely hungry so we ate it immediately! 🤤 The chicken smelled really good and it was so crispy! 😋 Since we bought 2 spicy chicken we were expecting it to be spicy and boy, we were not disappointed. The first bite was okay, but on the second bite we felt the spice hit us pretty hard. And it just got worse from there. Normally I can tolerate spice pretty well, but I've never had spice like this so maybe I just wasn't used to it. It was really spicy but so yummy! The gravy helped a tiny bit as we dipped the chicken in it, but it couldn't negate the spiciness enough.
I'd say this spicy chickenjoy is definitely spicier than the McSpicy we have here in Singapore. It is definitely not for those who cannot tolerate spiciness.
10/10 would eat again, but definitely have to have milk at the ready
