POLIS: The Trial of Socrates

At the end of Peloponnesian War, Sparta defeated Athens, and the democracy was replaced by a small oligarchy. This puppet government was headed by thirty men, later referred to as the Thirty Tyrants. Theramenes was one of these men, but he attempted to argue against some of their unjust practices. In the last set of pages, we see just that.

In this page, Critias has his turn. Critias was the unofficial leader of the Tyrants, and it is against him that Theramenes was directing his criticism. On this page, Critias turns the tables.

Not only does he call in a bunch of Spartan soldiers to take over the room. But Critias slashes Theramenes' name from the stone tablet that is meant to protect the limited pool of Athenian citizens from execution without trial.

I think this is really coming together! My only notes to the artist were that the Spartan soldiers should not be wearing helmets or cuirasses. They're hardcore​, and they'll only be wearing blood-red chlamises. Like the following (minus the helmets):
