Hook ‘Em Up

As part of that mission, we showcase talented content creators within the BuddyUP community, who also display a positive attitude and a community mindset, through our weekly curation post, Hook ‘Em Up!

Our @BuddyUP community is growing and so is the quality content inside the POST POOL channels. Often, that content can be easily missed in the vast ocean of Steemit.

It’s our mission at BuddyUP to grow together, support each other and highlight the fantastic content that is created by other members.

THIS WEEK’S CATCHES

@poetrybyjeremy

BuddyUP’s resident poet, @poetrybyjeremy, is one of the most active members of the community and one of the most creative—consistently posting his raw, real poetry.

One of his latest poems, “Debris”, is from his recently published book; Welcome to the Sombre Days.

An excerpt from “Debris” allows us a glimpse inside @poetrybyjeremy, but also a glimpse within ourselves:

Trapped inside this war;
hope is slipping away.
Afraid, terrified
of never finding
all that I lost.

In his Intro post on Steemit, 23-year-old Jeremy shares that love, social issues, and mental health are just some of the subjects of his poetry, drawing from a 2 year battle with severe depression.

I highly encourage you to stop by @poetrybyjeremy’s page and truly connect with this talented author through his poetry.

@dreemsteem

If you have yet to meet @dreemsteem, you’ve been missing out! Seriously, life is not complete until you hang out with the energetic, positive Pirate of the Steemit Seas—Cap’n Dreemsteem!

She began a Treasure Hunt on Steemit as a way to bring attention and support to quality content on Steemit and foster community on the platform.

Curating several posts throughout the week to be used as her Port Posts, her Pirates “hunt” the Ports accumulating hidden words, upvoting and commenting each Port Post. The final clue word is “hunted” during @shadowpub’s PYPT late show on Thursday’s. The quickest Pirate wins the booty! It’s great fun AND builds the community!

You can find her most recent Treasure Hunt post here!

But, @dreemsteem is so much more than just a Pirate! One of her most recent posts is the third in a series called Fireflies—an absolutely captivating, magical piece of fiction that will have you begging to be on her list of Sweet Subscribers. Here is a taste:

As she moved closer, she felt her pulse, saw the shimmer - and tried with all of her being to force the shimmer into a retreat and quicken her pulse. She was failing - and moved quicker to the boy before it was too late and she collapsed in the yard. With enormous strain, she reached the edge of the picnic table and fell exhausted onto the bench. She sat at the opposite end of the bench, facing the woods with him. Talia waited the briefest moment before letting the words rush out with complete abandon.

"Meet here tonight at 8?"

The boy didn't hesitate to answer. "Sure. What time?" His English was mixed with a foreign accent. It was unusual, but calming. Soothing.

"I said 8." Talia replied, frustrated at how breathless her voice was. Why wasn't he reacting this way? Was she wrong?

The boy turned to her and smiled- sweetly, welcoming, finally at ease. "I know you said 8 - but what time?"

You can read the full post here where you can also find links to chapters 1&2. I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed.

@lunaticpandora

In one of his most recent posts, @lunaticpandora is taking us on an international journey of the flags of the world—the current flag is that of Bangladesh. Don’t let an aversion to geography deter you from this excellent series. It’s a beautifully laid out post with clear, concise information.

It took me back to childhood when I scoured the pages of colorful flags in my grandparents’ set of Encyclopedias (am I the only one who did that?). Regardless, I ensure you, you’ll be entertained and educated along the way. Take a glimpse at what @lunaticpandora has to share:

The flag of Bangladesh is pretty simple, it consists of a green background with a red disc on top of it, the red disc is slightly shifted towards the hoist side of the flag (left side). The flag was adopted during the Bangladeshi liberation war on the 17th of January, 1972. The flag was designed by a group of students from Dhaka University (Dhaka is Bangladesh's capital). The original flag was made from scraps of clothes that were donated by a store from the Dhaka Market.

But there’s more to our history buff @lunaticpanda than just flags...like many of you, he’s into crypto and gaming. You can learn more about him from his Intro Post HERE.

Huge thank you!
