Today we will discover the 10th one of the series that I started some weeks back! I hope we will get the name of this bizarre fruit as quick as last time!

The fruit I will show you today is actually the national fruit of a certain country!!!

Mixed with salt fish and the dish becomes the National Dish of that country!!! Amazing right!? I will not disclose the country or else you'll find the name too quickly!!!
The leaves of this fruit tree are used to make tea for colds, flu, asthma and mucus congestion! And when you add salt to that tea it can be used as a mouthwash for gum problems.
This fruit is pear-shaped and when it ripens, it turns from green to a bright red to yellow-orange!
Attention : The unripened or inedible portions of the fruit contains toxins that can suppress the body's ability to release an extra supply of glucose, plunging one's blood sugar level and potentially leading to death! That's one of the reason this fruit is banned to be imported raw in the US!!!
When it splits open to reveal three large, shiny black seeds, each partly surrounded by soft, spongy, white to yellow flesh called the aril, the fruit can be harvested! Only the white to yellow flesh is consumed!

So what does this fruit taste like?
The fruit has a buttery, creamy texture and a mild taste that can be compared to hearts of palm. This is why saltfish is added to bring a saline tang to it!
