A Lot Of Promises

If you have been on SteemIt for more than a week, you've probably already realized that it's not as easy as all the the slogans or promo videos tell you. I bet that 99% of you came here because they've heard you can earn money by posting, commenting and upvoting. So did I. After all, that's the way marketing campaigns work: they show you the positive side, trying to persuade you to sign up.

I've found this great promo video, created by @rocking-dave.

Everything he says in the video is true. But he's nothing telling the entire story either. There's nothing in there about having to work your ass off to be able to earn a couple of cents. Not a word about the fact that Steemit's learning curve is remarkably steep, and you'll be facing a lot of frustration, disappointment and demotivation, which will might end up in leaving the platform before you've even got started yet.

I don't blame him for that, after all, that is what promotion is all about.

I'll show you...

The image below is rather popular:

(I don't know who was the original creator, but I think he or she has done a great job. I took the image from this SteemIt post.

Now imagine that this promo would tell you the truth about SteemIt...

mockup.jpg

Would you have signed up?
Personally, I don't think I would have. And that would have been a big loss, because if I think about all the things I've learned in those 4 months on Steemit, I'm glad I was mislead by the ads and signed up anyway.

It Is Possible!

I already mentioned it: the learning curve of Steemit.com isn't easy. Finding your way around the platform takes weeks, or even months, and when you just start out, the rewards are pretty small.

But that doesn't mean it's impossible. If you visit the 'Trending' stream, you wee people earning hundreds of Dollars with a single post.

steemit_trending_posts1.jpg

They didn't just get there overnight. They spent truckloads of time (and/or money) to get where they are.

They too have started out as plankton, and have been working their way up to the SteemIt ecosystem. But getting their requires a whole lot of hard work, dedication and the willingness to learn new things every day again.

Which brings me to what I actually wanted to tell you about.

This Is Your Chance To Prove You're Serious About SteemIt

If you're serious about Steemit, and have the ambition to climb up the ladder in order to become a minnow, a dolphin or even a whale some day, than you need to grab the opportunity I'm going to tell you about with both hands.

No, it won't be easy...
Yes, it'll require some hard work and dedication.
But it you're willing to commit, huge profits will come your way. And I'm not only talking about SBD and SP here. The real profit is to be found in acquiring knowledge, the knowledge you need to become successful on SteemIt.

You'll never make it to the top - of even half way, for all that matters - without the right tactics or techniques. You need to polish and improve your skills and educate yourself, every single day again, so you can learn how to use the SteemIt platform effectively.

And that's exactly where @itwithsm comes in.

The SteemIt Aware Contest

A couple of days ago, @itwithsm launched a 30-day contest, which will give contestants a chance to educate themselves and improve their skills by completing all kinds of different challenges.
Every participant will receive support and guidance for every new challenge. As a result, you'll be learning a lot of new things and will be able to polish your skills so your future at SteemIt is more likely to become a success.

steemawarecontest.jpg

At the end of the contest, the winner is rewarded with 100SBD. When you think of it now, it looks like a huge reward. But your chance of winning this great prize is 1/100, since only 100 participants can enter the contest.

Now, forget about the 100SBD for a minute, and think about all the rewards you can get along the way.

There will be 24 basic challenges, all very different. Every challenge involves creating a post on your SteemIt account, and then share it on the challenge page. If you've completed a challenge successfully, you have a chance to get upvotes, not only from the judges, but also from the people supporting the contest and from your fellow participants. Those upvotes add up, and you'll be surely making money along the way.

So I hope you understand that joining this contest will get your posts noticed more easily, which will have another rewarding effect: you'll get more followers.

To make you aware of all the benefits of joining, let me quote the organizers:

Benefits of this Contest for participants:

  • You will get to know many amazing things about steemit block chain.
  • You and your content will get noticed very quickly.
  • If you win, 100 SBDs is a really good amount for a minnow.
  • If you don't win no worries, you will still be able to get about $10 to $20 upvotes during the contest.
  • And you will graduate as a successful Steemian at the end of the contest.

So, There is win win situation for every participant of this contest.
The challenges are so designed that your skills will get polished to a really good extent and what you learnt from this contest will help you through the journey on steemit.

If you are serious about SteemIt, this is a golden opportunity. If you want to learn how to work every single feature of SteemIt to become successful, than this is the path to follow.

If you are not willing to take this chance, a rather small 30-day commitment that could bring in a lot of rewards, financial as well as in skills and knowledge, then I think you've got to question yourself about your real SteemIt goals.

How To Enter The Contest?

To begin with, I'm going to ask you for a favour. Part of the first challenge is to refer new contestants. So, if you're willing to take part in the contest, please let the organizers know you were referred by me.

You can do so by visiting THIS LINK and scroll down to the comments section, until you see this message:

myentry.jpg

It's currently in second place, so it shouldn't be hard to find.
Don't worry about the different username. 'mike314-0005' was my old account. I talked to the organizers and I'm allowed to complete the other challenges with my new account 'simplymike'.

Step 1:

Like this comment and reply with "I am referred by @mike314-0005" (or you can use 'simplymike' if you prefer to.)

Step 2:

If you think you need another rundown on all the goals and benefits of this contest, you can read the original contest post HERE

Step 3:

If you think you're ready, you can start with your first challenge: The Steem Ambassador Challenge.
I've made a screenshot that tells you how you must enter this first challenge:

If you want to see an example, you can check out my entry for the Abassador challenge here

Step 4:

Submit your entry in the #itwithsm discord channel. If you don't have a Discord account yet, you'll need to create one first (it's free). Log into Discord and click the following link to enter the contest channel:
https://discord.gg/QEv6HGT

Accept the invitation to enter the channel. Once you're in, click 'Entries' in the left menu (1) and paste the link to your post in the 'message' field (2). Click 'Enter' to submit.

Step 5:

Wait until your entry has been accepted by the admins. Once it is accepted, you'll receive your own comment in the comments thread on THIS PAGE

Step 6:

Let the first challenge begin! To earn points, get as many people as possible to click the upvote button on the comment with your entry. To earn even more points, get them to enter the contest too.

You have 7 days to gather as many points possible. After these 7 days, you can start your 2nd challenge.

IMPORTANT

This contest deserves a little pat on the back, since it serves so many good causes. Not only does it teach people on how to use the platform to increase their earnings, it's also a great way to reduce the amount of low quality content and comments. On top of that, they support minnows financially as well as mentally and motivate them to add quality content to SteemIt, which also benefits the entire platform. Since money is the best incentive if you want people to go for something, they're offering a main prize of 100SBD.

What i'm trying to say here is that these people deserve our support too. They're trying to make SteemIt a better place for everyone, and are willing to put in a whole lot of work to achieve this.

Whether you will be entering the contest or not, I suggest you show your support to these guys.

Curious About The Upcoming Challenges?

In my opinion, you should already have started working on the article you need to submit to enter the contest.

But if you're still here, you might want to know about some of the other upcoming challenges. Like I mentioned before, the challenges cover a wide range of different skills and since we're all fairly new here, it is impossible to be good at every challenge to come.

To give you an example: two of the challenges involve Dtube. I absolutely suck at making videos, so I'm a bit scared of those. Fortunately, we will receive a basic training on how to create a good video before we start the challenge. So although I'm a bit scared, those are probably the challenges I will learn the most from.

You can find the complete list of upcoming challenges here

Conclusion?

You don't get opportunities like this one every day, so it would be a shame to not take advantage of this one. After all, entering the contest is completely free!

You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain!

And in case you're worrying about your capabilities, .. don't.

The only way you can fail is by not taking this chance

If you don't believe in yourself, please know that I do!

I believe you can do it. I believe you owe it to yourself to at least try and give it your best shot. You'll be picking up a lot of useful information along the way.

If you've entered the contest, and replied to my contest entry with "I am referred by @mike314-0005" as described in step 1, then let me know about your contest entry in the comments section below this post, so I can give your entry an upvote.

You see, you haven't even written your post yet, and you've already got a point in your pocket.

What are you waiting for? Take this chance with both hands and start writing.
