This is a painting I created titled Petal Patterns.
I used acrylic paint for this and a wood canvas. The size of the painting is 22 x 31 inches (56 x 79cm). I like to make my own wood canvases for my paintings because I prefer a firm surface to paint on. Also because I have started experimenting with adding objects on top of the canvas so the actual surface I am painting on is not flat. This was the first painting where I glued pieces of wood onto the canvas as you see in the image below.
When I first started this painting I was going for a more patchy looking pattern but as I moved forward I did not like the way it looked. So I created a more colorful uniform pattern but with a thin layer of paint so you can still see the patches underneath. Here is a video of me creating this painting.
