A Bill To Require SK Officials To Declare Their Crypto Investments Is Introduced

After recent controversies about government official insider trading and market manipulation, a bill has been introduced in South Korea to require public officials to declare their cryptocurrency investments.

Chung Dong-Yong, a South Korean National Assembly's Administrative and Security Committee member, has introduced the said bill.

He explained that the current Public Service Ethics law of the country does not include cryptocurrencies which has emerged as a means of property proliferation.

The bill will require public servants to publicize their crypto possessions of 10 million won or more.

If the officials refuse or provide false information regarding their crypto holdings, Chung proposed a penalty and disciplinary action.


European Central Bank To Discuss Cryptocurrency and Blockchain With Youth

In the upcoming 3rd ECB Youth Dialogue which will happen on February 12, 2018, ECB President Mario Draghi will respond to selected questions submitted by the European youth aged 16 to 35.

The questions should be around three main topics: Europe’s economic recovery and youth unemployment, possibility of a new global economic crisis and cryptocurrencies and Blockchain given that they should be submitted by January 23, 2018.

Prior to the session, ECB posted a poll on Twitter to ask whether Bitcoin could offer a viable alternative to traditionalcurrencies or not and 75% said "Yes" as of this time of writing.
