Japan's Gumi Inc. Launches Blockchain Investment Fund

One of the leading mobile game publisher in Japan, Gumi Inc., have revealed that they are initiated a global investment fund with the primary purpose of investing in early-stage cryptocurrency startups.

Lead by its CEO, Mr. Hironao Kunimitsu and Founder of US based cryptocurrency exchange Evercoin, Miko Matsumura the fund will have initial investment fund of $30 million.

The fund had already made several investments already: Basis, Origin Protocol, Robot Cache and Pryze.

The Fund: Gumi Cryptos, offers its portfolio companies a strategic viewpoint into the Japanese market which is notoriously difficult to understand and access.

Japan accounts for more than half the global bitcoin trading volume and the country is one of the countries that legalize cryptos.

Tron Transits To Its Own Blockchain

TRON began its transition from a Ethereum-based ERC20 token to its own public Blockchain.

The mainnet of Tron is called Odyssey 2.0 have officially launched May 31, 2018 at 12 UTC which signals the beginning of migration of $4 billion worth of Tron cryptocurrency.

For the most part of its initial release the network will remain in beta to give ample time for developers to configure their wallets. Token migration is set to commence on June 21 to June 24.

The transition will end June 25 in which it will be dubbed as “independence day.”

However the launching of its mainnet which is generally viewed as positive price catalyst have not really manifested itself in the crypto’s short-term price movement as it declined leading up to the mainnet launch.

Huobi Exchange Expands To Brazil

According to a news outlet in Brazil, Huobi representative were seen handing out business cards in a Brazillian cryptocurrency conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

It seems that the company is marketing the platform in the country and is attempting to get top talents in order for them to setup shop and expand its operations to Brazil.

Looking at the companies LinkedIn, the Singapore –based firm is looking to hire Chief Compliance Officer and Digital Marketing Manager whose primary roles are for regulatory compliance and brand development respectively in the country.

The news outlet claims that the company plans to operate in the country before the year’s end.

This latest move by Huobi is part of their strategy to expand worldwide.

Earlier reports reveals that the company have already initiated expansion plans in Canada and the U.S.

It's Blockchain incubator program has also partnered with Tianya Community to establish a $1 Billlion Blockchain Fund in China’s Hainan province.

BlockShow Europe 2018 Has Set A Record In Attendance

The BlockShow Europe 2018 has concluded their two days conference where prominent speakers attended the show such as Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and BTCC co-founder Bobby Lee.

It has been reported that this year’s BlockShow was 5 times larger than its previous events and twice as big as BlockShow Asia.

There were about 3,000 people who attended that show with 93 companies had exhibits in the said event and about 90 sponsor companies.

The BlockShow Europe has release a study that reveals the best European country for starting a Blockchain company.

It has revealed that Switzerland as the best country followed by Gibraltar and Malta respectively.

The conference also included a Blockchain industry leaders poll where users of the BlockShow app globally cold vote on the top woman and to EU business in Blockchain.

Dr. QUy Vo-Reinhard and Bitfury were voted respectively.

ICON Partners With Venture Capital Firm, TRIVE

ICON and TRIVE have team up together to improve local community and educate the region.

ICON’s primary focus is to connect different Blockchains and increase their interoperability.

It has attracted the attention of a Major Venture Capitalist Firm based in Singapore.

Their partnership will produce an educational ecosystem involving Blockchain.

The two organization will co-develop Blockchain courses that will be part of TRIVE’s programming schools that are located in Singapore and Vietnam.

It is evident that that the partnership is designed to target Southeast Asia and Singapore and Vietnam are seen as the center of Blockchain innovation in the said region.

This partnership may help address potential problem arising from other competitors in the space, exposure of parties to related ecosystems and potentially may lead to more use cases.
