Business Bank in UAE Partners with Ripple for Instant Cross-Border Payments to India
National Bank of Ras Al-Khaimah, also known as RAK, has partnered with Ripple to create instant cross-border payments to India, which is the largest receiver of remittances in the world.
The business and retail bank will be using the Ripple’s blockchain network, RippleNet to allow instant retail remittances to customers in Axis Bank in India.
The remittance system will be called RAKMoneyTransfer (RMT) which could process payments within seconds and with end-to-end visibility of the whole process of the payment.
Axis Bank, one of India’s major private sector lender has joined Ripple early this year and has been processing cross-border remittances using the blockchain.
State Bank of India to Pilot Test a Blockchain-powered Smart Contracts
The State Bank of India (SBI) has recently planned to pilot test a smart contracts system based on blockchain this coming December.
The smart contracts system was developed by BankChain Consortium which was launched this Februarry and is composed of twenty-seven member banks that aims to create blockchain solutions for the banking industry in India.
The system can be used in the majority of SBI’s internal processes and things like nondisclosure agreements which will be tested on pilot this December.
