February 12th -- Steemit Ramble #142 -- Curating Great Posts for You

Yesterday, after about a foot of snow over a few days, the weather called for freezing rain. Definitely a writing day. Yes, I just renamed snow day to writing day. Works for me.

Sadly, just way too many distractions on Sundays for me to actually spend the day focused on writing. I know, I let myself be distracted, but it is the day of rest.

Dawn & Fawnya appear to be ready for the day.

Onward to today’s rambling

Hook, Line and Sinker -- Story Openings (Part 2)

It’s not often I put both parts of a series of posts into the Ramble, but, this post and the first part that I curated in the last Ramble is really deserving. These two posts have to be the best material I’ve read yet about story openings. They set the tone for the reader experience and getting them right, is not as easy as you might think. Great work @thinknzombie

Quitters

This was a little bit different to see in the #success tag, a post on quitting. Definitely got my attention. I like the poem, especially the last verse.

🗿Bot Talk and Witnessy Stuffs☯️

@enginewitty discusses the good and the bad of some of the voting bots out there. He’s particularly concerned at how some of the bid prices have been rising thus freezing out some of the smaller members of the platform. @themarkymark pops into the comments and replies to some of @enginewitty’s concerns which sheds light on some aspects of voting bots most people don’t know.

Steemit Home Page Redesign Part 1

@theuxyeti is a newish member on the platform and was recently asked about the possibilities of a redesigned Steemit frontend. He was asked to conceive this because of his background in creating user interfaces. This is the first part of his concept. Have a look and drop your comments.

A call to all... Let the community spirit rain down on this post and HELP!!

@welshstacker shares a post with an appeal for support for the stacker communities efforts to help bring down the cost of producing the 2018 silver round by generating funds before they are produced. This is an interesting community functioning on the blockchain.

Poetry Editing 101 – Session Two: Resolving Emotional Abstractions

Don’t underestimate the importance of writing, critiquing and revisions of your poetry. We tend to romanticize poetry as being inspiration delivered. But, while there is likely inspiration, like any other form of writing, it still needs spit and polish before being ready to reveal to the world. @damianjayclay delivers any installment of his series on how to edit poetry.

Changes to Our Workshops

The @thewritersblock has been growing rapidly in the last few weeks. That means the queues in the workshops are getting a lot busier. In growth the need to defining and refining is often revealed and @thewritersblock has responded with changes and updates to the processes.

☕Coffee Talk with Carrie - E7☕ - Puertopia

@carrieallen does a excellent presentation of her vlog as she explores an article on a group wishing to create a crypto city in Puerto Rico. That country could sure use anything positive for their economy. Check out @carrieallen’s commentary on the article.

International Women's Day Poker Tournament - WIN 100 SBD!

Women’s Day is approaching on March 8th and two of our witnesses, @guiltparties and @ats-david are sponsoring a giant @spl poker tournament. Both sexes are welcome to play BUT the guys are going to be fair game to get knocked out. Don’t be rough ladies, it’s just a game.

For The Life Of Me

So,the other day @topkpop put out a post challenging others to step outside of their comfort zone. @thebugiq has done exactly that about a topic near and dear to many of us, even if we don’t talk about it much — our weight. He’s written an open and honest post about his weight journey that any who struggles with weight can relate to. But, he doesn’t just talk, he’s announced his plans to open a Discord to function as a support centre for those who want to take the journey. A must read.

Wrap-up on Day 142

Some interesting posts to be found in this Ramble. Working on some renovations on the Steemit Ramble discord and have several offline meetings this week. Along with some writing projects I want to get done, going to be a busy week.
