My Beloved Is Radiant!

BIBLE READING:
Song of Songs 5: 2-16

Qs. 2. See Questions HERE.

DISCUSSION:

Here is a bride's love and appreciation of her groom. What may we learn from this woman's experience for improving our marital relationships? Notice the nightmare our spouse can experience when we are not available at needed times (vs. 2, 6). It satisfies when a husband is sensitive to know when the wife needs him! Is there any example to follow or not to follow in vs. 3-6 (cf. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5)? The bride's questions (v. 3) should challenge us to always be holy, awaiting our Groom, Jesus. Maximum satisfaction in sexual intercourse between spouses requires not only emotional readiness but also bodily preparation (vs. 3, 5).

See the harsh experience of this woman (v. 7). How we need to realise that many men and women are awake and are moving about, finding our spouses a point of attraction and sometimes, an object of harassment or abuse when we are not available! How do you see the woman's sincerity (v. 8) and the response of her friends (v. 9; see 6:1 also)?

Openness about our feelings for our spouses is always very helpful.

Notice how the woman was willing to risk her life and dignity as she searched for her lover (vs. 7-8). She is not ashamed to say how she desperately wants to be with him. From vs. 10-16, she responds to those who are inquisitive about her love affair with the most romantic words to describe the qualities that made her attracted to her lover who is also her closest friend.

So what?

Always reflect and outline the strength of your spouse. Ask the Lord for grace to do this.

Prayer:

Ask God to daily deliver you from ungodly men and women who go about snatching and harassing people's spouses from them.
