Once upon a time there was a lonely scientist that lived in the woods. He worked in a lab full of testing tubes and microscopes. Biology was his passion, his lab was his little heaven. Day and night working and studying our scientist grew wiser and wiser. Boy! He was so clever, but he was also so lonely. He didn't have anyone to talk to. He needed some people to discuss his ideas and learn a bunch of new things about chemistry, physics, medicine, technology, engineering and mathematics.
On a sunny autumn day he decided to go for a walk in the forest. As he was wandering, he found a log cabin. It looked deserted, but outside there was a marble table and some wooden benches.
- What a shame! he said to himself. This place is so beautiful. If only there was someone I could talk to over a cup of hot coffee, right here around this table.
Suddenly, he felt something on his head. He looked up to the tree branches above him and saw a squirrel munching on some chestnuts.
- Hey, you! the scientist yelled.
- Oops! Sorry, I didn't see you down there. the brown squirrel apologized and got down of the tree. Hello, my name is Samuel.
- Hi, Samuel. I'm biologist Jackson.
- Nice to meet you Dr Jackson. What are you doing out here?
- I was just out for a walk. I live in the woods too.
- Oh! You're a scientist that's cut off from the rest of the world. But that should not be the case. You should be living in the city, teaching all those people lots of interesting and useful things.
- You're right, Samuel but you see, I hate the city. I think I have to find another solution to fight my loneliness.
- I'm sure I can help you work it out! Do you have your laptop with you?
- No, but I have my smartphone on me.
- Does it have access to the internet?
- Yes, of course, my friend.
- Great! Here, let me have a look, the little squirrel proved to be a web expert. There, Dr Jackson! I think I found a solution to your problem. You'll log in on this platform and you'll find so many science lovers that you'll be able to discuss your favorite topics every day. You'll learn loads of new things and others will learn from you too. You'll be a part of a community no matter how far from the city you are.
- Thank you, Samuel! That's a great idea! Finally, I'll have a place where I'll belong to!
- Yes, Dr Jackson. Now here, have some chestnuts...
