After the deer people have left, he turns back towards the jet turbine, only to find a second offering, sitting on the ground next to the opening of his new home. It's a roughly hewn board of wood, like a 2x4, and on the surface are several items of food.
Amongst the items of his breakfast are turnips, carrots and squash. Twisting mushroom shapes wrap themselves around a tomato nestled beside a wild onion. He sits down before his makeshift plate and starts to eat.
Birds call out to each other overhead. A light breeze stirs his hair as he chews. He is a bit wary of the mushrooms, but also realizes that he hasn't eaten in two days. Within a few minutes the meal has been completely devoured.
Stumbling to his feet he makes his way over to the stream to drink and wash up. As he splashes water over his face, he wonders who left him this offering. The girl? But then he remembers her brother, leaning on a rock and staring intently at him.
The turbine beckons. Within it's shadows there is a way through this mystery. He prepares to explore further.
