Ooblets: The Adorable Farming Game Where You Can Train Pokémon

"Prepare for trouble! Make it double!"

-Team Rocket (Pokémon)

Have you ever imagine about how would it be if you combine two different games with different genres? Like maybe.. Pokémon + Harvest Moon + Animal Crossing? The gameplay would be you can customize your character and decorate your house. And when you go outside you can take care of your farm, then Team Rocket shows up trying to steal your Pokémon but only ends up thrown to the sky again and again.

Does it sounds interesting to you? If it doesn't, I don't care, keep reading. If it does, and if that makes you feels like you want a game like that, well.. M'aiq has good news for you, traveler. That kind of game really is exist, minus the Team Rocket however. Alright that's enough. First, check out the trailer of the game below.

Ooblets, the strange-ly named indie game that you get when you love playing Pokémon, Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing and then get inspired to combine those three into one game. When I say "strange-ly named" I don't mean the bad kind of strange, but unique kind of strange. And don't you see how awesome the characters dance in that trailer? I can watch it all day.

Made by the the new video game developer Glumberland, Ooblets will be their first entry in video game industry. As you can see in the trailer above, it's not just about farming. The trailer shows pretty much anything you can expect from the game. It is about farming, town life, and creature collection.

How Pokémon, Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing Fit In

The players will take the role of a newcomer in the world of Oob, but I'm not sure if the town folks will immediately make you a mayor the first time you arrive in Oob (I kinda like saying that name), but you surely you will have your own house in Ooblets. This is where you can see how it has Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon in it. You will have a small fully customizable house that you can furnish, decorate, and expand with a farm included that you have to establish just like you did in Harvest Moon. You can plant many kind of seeds in your farm, water them everyday while you eagerly waiting for them to grow, and finally harvest your plants.

When you're done taking care your farm, the world of Oob have many locations you can explore, all with their own biomes, plants, and characters. You can also run shops and unlock buildings in the town as you complete the provided quests. Along your way exploring the strange lands in the world of Oob, you can collect many seeds, items, furniture, machinery, badges, and new friends. Now about the "friends", there are 2 kind of friends in this game. This is the Pokémon element kicks in..

Instead of only getting normal fruits and vegetables out of your harvested plants, you will get Pokémon-like creatures instead. The game's title is the creatures' name actually, they are called Ooblets. These cute little creatures will need you as their trainer. As you grow your little friends, you will encounter wild Ooblets along your journey accross Oob that will battle your Ooblets (I make the names sounds confusing, didn't I?). This Pokémon gameplay is one of the biggest appeal of the game. Just like in Pokémon, you're not the only trainer in town. There will be many trainers you can meet and battle your Ooblets with their's.

Customization Feature That We Always Love

Aren't we love this kind of feature in video game? You can enjoy the customization of the game to decorate your own house and farm with all sorts of furnitures and decoration items that you can find on your exploration or bought from the local shops.

The game's wide range of customization options is available not only for your little comfortable house and farm, but also your character and your little friends. There are many stylish outfits you can find in the game for you character and your Ooblets. You can customize your character's general look, change the clothing, and hair style to suit your desired appearance. And for your Ooblets, if you think they are cute enough for you, try give them a hat, eye-wear or outfits and see how more adorable they look.

I'm interested to stay tuned on the Glumberland's official site to follow the development progress and see how it goes. What makes me interested the most is because there are only two people currently working on this promising cute game. And if the game can make a fabulous entrance, I'd really like to see that. Here is the Ooblets dev's blog, and you can find it on Steam too.

I didn't say the game is already released, I only said that it's exist.. In development state. M'aiq knows many things, no? The two-person development team has been working on it since 2016 and aim to release the game in 2018 for Xbox One and PC. You can support them on Patreon if you are interested.

I'll leave you with the Team Rocket's motto.
