As I search the "NEW" section of Steemit, I have come across this logo in comments on a number of quality posts out there. So it tells me that the idea is catching on. maybe not in the millions yet, but slowly and surely people are beginning to get on board this grassroots movement and are making a difference.
For those among us who haven't yet heard of this movement, here is a basic rerun of it:
Every day each person finds a post that interests them in the "NEW" section, which was written by someone who is newer than you.
Simply upvote it, resteem it.
If you like, you can promote the idea with a comment along the lines of:
@ username, I've found your post to be worthy of a resteem and upvote from me. I'm an actual person and I am doing this on behalf of the Resteem - Upvote movement. Join the movement, read about it here: @jackmiller/the-resteem-and-upvote-movement-you-can-make-a-big-difference
and add a copy of the above logo!
This is not a requirement, just an idea put forwards by one of the people who are participating in this movement.
OR BETTER YET, Write your own post about this idea, promote it via your own wall and get the word out!

What is the maths and potential of doing something like this?
If only 100 of us Steemians were to start resteeming and upvoting just 1 extra quality post per day, made by someone we don't follow and who is trying hard to work their way up here on Steemit.
So 100 of us here do this just once a day, that is 365 days x 100 = 36,500 posts per year that get upvoted and resteemed here on Steemit that would not have normally shown up in the Feeds of the people who follow us.
Then we multiply that figure by the number of people who are following us and we start getting figures that are in the millions!
Yes, in the multi millions!
WOW.... THINK ABOUT THE POTENTIAL THAT WE ARE CREATING FOR MINNOWS OUT THERE!
& all it takes is just one extra upvote and resteem once a day!
The original guidelines of this grassroots movement are simple!

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE!
SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE!
Every so often when searching for a new quality post out there I come across the above comment and I see that things are moving forwards, that people are beginning to promote the idea of PEOPLE POWER!
Get on board, there is no formal membership, no one is going to say anything if you miss out on a day or two, this is totally voluntary, it is a movement, not a club, there are no membership fees or any hidden agendas, it is quite simply an incentive to use what we have available here as people for the good of the people.
Are there any rules apart from the ones listed above?
Yes, the general rule of thumb is simple:
Whales can not vote/resteem any other Whales.
Dolphins, Minnows and Redfish can not vote/resteem other Dolphins or Whales.
THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THIS ONE POST DAILY.

Ohhh yeah.... HOW CAN YOU HELP OUT?
1- Start by resteeming this post.
2- Better yet, If you plan on becoming a part of the Movement, write your own post about WHY YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE RESTEEM AND UPVOTE MOVEMENT.
3- If you speak a language other than English, feel free to write a post about it in that language.
4- What about TAGs, do we need to use any special TAGs?
NO you do not have to use any tags or mention anyone in particular. This is on an individual level, every one of us is doing this because we as individuals want to help out, this is not a group, it is what could be labelled as a "Grassroots" movement. People helping people.
5- Go ahead and help a Minnow out, JUST DO IT! It is a great feeling to know that your contribution, no matter how big or small has helped spread the word and helped a Minnow get noticed.
PS. As for the funds raised here on this post and on the original post, I shall allocate all these funds to the two fundraisers that I have running here in Steemit, and all funds from future posts on this idea shall go towards these two fundraisers.
