Beautiful Taj Mahal in Agra (India) is world famous. This mausoleum was built by the emperor Shah Jahan ( r.1628-1658). The architectorial style is early Mughal with islamic traditions. Usually buildings in this early style was build in red sandstone,( like the Red Fort in Agra) but Shah Jahan used white marble with semi-precious stones. The main building with the tombs of Shah Jahan and his wife is white marble. But other buildings are made in red sandstone. On each side of the mouseluem there are two buildings in red sandstone. On the photo you will see a part of one of them. The mosque. The emperor had this tomb built in memory of his wife who died when their forteenth child was born. This memorial to eternal love must be one of the most beautiful in the world.
