Monster in Focus: Serpentine Spy

My @steemmonsters journey has been a rather interesting one, and it is something I like talking about regularly. It would not have been possible without support from Kenneth Bosak, who rewarded me a free account coupon, so I'm grateful for that. During my time on the battlefield, I've developed a keen interest in the game that has seen me improve my strategy, formations, and most importantly, the type and quality of cards I have.

The Card

Market value: $0.07

The Serpentine Spy or Serpie, as I like to call it, stands out as one of my favourite cards because first of all, it reminds me of a ninja and secondly, it is part of the Fire pack, which happens to be my best card pack. It is a hidden Gem that currently sells at 7 cents and is still available in the market for now.

This particular monster has been with me through many battles, and while it is not the most spectacular card around, it can be used to devastating effect. Serpie's among the few melee monsters that come with opportunity, plenty of speed and a decent hit that rises to +3 when combined with Marlic Inferno or any other Summoner that boosts melee attack.

Strengths

Here are some reasons why you should consider adding this card to your Arsenal;

  • Low Mana cost: Can be used in all sorts of battles, particularly those were the ruleset permits low mana
  • Packs a punch: For such a cheap card, it packs a mean punch.
  • Quick and Nimble: At level 4, it gets to a speed of 5, meaning it usually strikes first and that's particularly awesome because it can strike a crippling blow to the opponent with your first hit.
  • Opportunity ability: When the ruleset allows the use of special abilities, this monster offers the Opportunity ability. With this ability, it only goes for the most vulnerable monster on your opponent's deck. It can come in handy for situations where you want to take out a centrepiece like a healer protected from Sneak and shielded upfront.

Weakness

  • Low health: For all its positives, it is still a very fragile card with health of only 2, and the slightest damage will take it out.
  • weak against magic: It is also very vulnerable to magic and offers zero resistance to such attacks.

Summary

This is a decent card that I encourage you to buy, particularly if you're like me who enjoys melee battles. Despite its shortcomings, I still think this monster is a very useful member of any battle, as it combines Speed, deadly accuracy, and a special ability that ensures it only strikes the vulnerable member of the opponent's side. However, to enjoy this card in battle, you have to keep it out of any extremes: that is frontline or rear guard because it is fragile.
