RE: Announcement: Applications Invited for Moderator Role

Thank you, Steemit team for this observation. Our just concluded application for the roles of the MODs in the community brought about a fair selection process with those changes.

It became worrisome over time the way and trend the community was heading given the docile nature of the MODs.

Rather than indulge in activities that would benefit the entire community, this was skewed and rather assumed to be a personal affair.

Some of the envisaged lapses:

  1. Contests are posted without due diligence and approval from the admins.

  2. Reviews are skewed where only those that participated in their contests are reviewed. Leaving other community entries unattended.

  3. Some reviewed articles were still plagued with plagiarism and in violation of the club's status. We can't afford to lose our booming support and Steemit's confidence in this regard.

  4. No MOD attend a contest hosted by the community account, rather they are only interested in their content.

  5. One would wonder why the community can no longer apply for the steemit engagement challenge. These are the issues.

Being a MOD in a community is not automatic, and we expect everyone's willingness to be part of the team through an application.

One of the names mentioned above #ubongudofot did not apply thus indicating no interest in handling that responsibility. However, we felt this will help him to even concentrate more on his project in @smilenigeria which he runs.

@goodybest was not selected after several considerations this time. She is also open to applying next time and she can be selected as well.

Not being selected for MOD work does not strip anyone of them their status as a Country Rep and their contributions to the community which are so much valued. The community values all her CRs and would be ready to support them in any capacity to meet their obligation in the platform. And we mean this.

There is a need for others to grow and learn in Nigeria, so giving them such opportunities helps them appreciate the platform more, helping to reduce cases of plagiarism and some other misconducts that are not acceptable within the platform.

Therefore, we do not intend to segregate our CRs by this selection process but with the sole intention of overhauling the entire community for growth potential.

Thank you.
