My Weekly Powerup | #club100 | Landscapes of Northern Argentina (#steemexclusive / 11 photos)

My last longer trip before the pandemic hit the globe was to Argentina and Chile. For the next eight weeks, I traveled with my family from Buenos Aires to Patagonia in the south, Easter Island and up to the northern corner of Chile and Argentina.

Because of the size of these two countries the landscape varries a lot from south to north. These photos were taken in the north-western corner of Argentina at a salt flat called Salinas Grande. We stayed in the small village Purmamarca, very close to both the Bolivian and Chilean borders. Because of mountains and winding roads it took us the whole day to drive up to Salinas Grande and back again.

Our visit was a day in February. What we didn't know before we were here, was that it was wet, making the whole place look like a gigantic mirror. As you see, the reflections of the mountains, sky and the people walking on the surface, is just stunning. Spectacular landscape that made us want to stay. Argentina is still mining salt at this place. We saw the machinery, but because it was sunday, nobody was working.

Salinas Grande covers more than 500 square kilometers, which makes it the largest in Argentina and the third largest in the world. It was absoluletely an amazing experience. It felt as walking in a totally white world.
