To me, the swan is one of the most beautiful birds I know of. Almost no matter where I walk along the sea, beach or waters, I always see the swans. I am so lucky to live only 10 minutes walk from the sea, so I can follow these beautiful birds all year round. From the very young age to become a young adult. The Swan is Denmark's national bird.

It's a large bird when it walks up close to you. Not shy at all. They come very close if they are fed. Often they flock around people with food, together with ducks, gulls and other birds. One should take care though, They can be dangerous too. These photos above were taken during winter (end of December).

Swans stick together for life until one of them dies. In Kristiansand we have such a couple who keeps coming back each year. These photos were taken in the beginning of June.

When they are in town, they stay around the harbor in the city center. A lot of people pass by here with both children and dogs. But amazingly, they do not seem to have anything against humans. Soon it's time to check if they are back. In april they will have babies to show off.
