#TRAVEL My Weekly Powerup | #club100 | One of the best places for fresh fruits and vegetables – Port Louis, Mauritius | #steemexclusive / 7 photos

Finally I am back on the island of Mauritius. The first couple of days are spent catching up with sleep. It's a long flight from Norway. Yesterday I went to Port Louis, the capital. Usually I am staying in the northern part of the island, but the capital is only a little less than an hours bus ride away. The capital city is noisy with chaotic trafic, but I love to walk the streets and just soak in the atmosphere. One of my favourite places to visit and to buy cheap and fresh fruits and vegetables, is the Central Market in the center of town. It's saturday and obviously a very busy morning.

This market was established some time back in the 1820s when Mauritius was a colony under Great Britain. I belive it is the largest of all the markets on the island. It has undergone rebuilding processes during these year. The building is a two-story structure with the main hall on the first floor. In the midle there is an opening up to the the second floor, which gives the place an airy feeling.

The market is one of the places I enjoy to obserserve and take photos. The best place is the second floor. This is where the souvenir vendors are selling their goods. Usually there are less people up here and I get a good opportunity to take photos from above. Because of the darknes I have to use high ISO.

Before I leave the market I do my shoppings. The Central Market is a colorful place with a great smell of fresh herbs and vegetables. Even you don't want to buy anything, it is worth a visit, just to experience the atmosphere, colors and fresh smells.
