Explore everyday life in Japan
The greenest of greens turns to a golden yellow at the end of August/beginning of September and the Japanese countryside does as well. In some areas, as far as the eye can see, the land appears to be covered by a golden blanket of rice.
I think this is one of the most beautiful things you can see in Japan. Like most things of beauty, it doesn't last long. Soon, mechanical harvesters will dot the landscape and this golden blanket will be mowed back to the patchy squares of mud from which it came.
This is an ongoing series that will explore various aspects of daily life in Japan. My hope is that this series will not only reveal to its followers, image by image, what Japan looks like, but that it will also inform its followers about unique Japanese items and various cultural and societal practices.
