We're celebrating two months showcasing the Ladies of Steemit! To mark the occasion, we are answering a common question we receive:
Is there a Ladies of Steemit Discord I can join?
Our answer now and forever...
Nope.
Ladies of Steemit was created to showcase the female voices on the blockchain. We stand to promote, curate, cultivate community, give back, host fun challenges, bring IRL news to the platform, and to serve as a resource to the initiatives bringing women to the platform and together on Steemit.
This week, we're showcasing the top four community organizations on the blockchain who maintain active Discord channels where Steemians of all identifications can connect.
We chose organizations that explicitly vocalize their support for women, feminism, humanism, LGBT+, and marginalized persons.
If you've been craving community, we're proud to bring you four stellar groups making waves on the blockchain.
Steem Sugars
created by @meanmommy33
How do we bring more women to Steemit? The question asked by founder @meanmommy33 has spawned an organization boasting well over 100 members! With an active Discord channel, a brand new logo, social media outreach initiative, a Steem Sugars video, and even a song, the Sugars are a fast-growing initiative with a dedicated core squad of supporters.
The Steem Sugars vision:
Bring more women into Steemit and the Crypto world!
How they plan to implement:
By promoting Steemit to other Women, explaining and helping them understand the concept and start blogging!
By doing relevant posts and resteem supporters, promoters and fellow female Steemians who are new and are learning the platform just now!
By starting a research on Steemit to find other women and follow them, commenting on their content as @steemsugars and furthermore, research about Women centered events or even create them.quote
Noteable contributors to the Steem Sugars community: @redrica, @patrice, @natureofbeing, @immarojas @teodora, @osm0sis, @stellabelle.
Our experience with Steem Sugars:
From the very beginning, Steem Sugars has supported and bolstered the work of Ladies of Steemit, seeing us not as competition but as a loyal contributor to their mission. The conversations happening inside Steem Sugars are so varied, always inclusive, and voiced by a diverse crowd. The leader of Steem Sugars and those assisting her work tirelessly to develop the group and support its members.
I'd like to personally thank Steem Sugars for opening a Ladies of Steemit micro-channel on their Discord where we discuss this project, opportunities for submission, and new developments to which we can contribute!
Steem Sugars is about bringing women to the blockchain and is 100% gender inclusive! Boy Sugars are welcome and all who value the creative contribution of females on Steemit and the crypto space will make a great addition to the community.

TeamGirlPowa

The place for intersectional feminists on Steemit!
It was within Team Girl Powa that I (@ameliabartlett) finally embraced my own feminism. Team Girl Powa is a hub for woke discussions on gender, feminism in-general, rights, current events, and the personal experiences associated with these topics.
Recently, Team Girl Powa member @skycae and the moderation team produced an extensive introduction to the community, which so eloquently clarifies their mission that we must include it and encourage you to read the original post:
There is a whole lot to be done to reach our goals and to empower the marginalized communities we focus on, and there are_ so many reasons why we need Team Girl Powa on the Steemit platform.
Specifically, these are some things we hope to achieve and create here on the blockchain:
To create a space for women and men seeking empowerment and freedom from oppression under systems of patriarchal control with special emphasis on uplifting people of color, disabled or mentally/physically challenged people and the lgbt+ spectrum on the internet.
To also encourage these groups to speak about their lives, struggles and ideas without the threat of abuse, hate and misogyny.
To promote healthy feminism on the interwebs, especially on Steemit, by promoting healthy discussions on the topic, supporting inter-sectional feminists and the like as well as supporting feminist authors and their contributions in spite of anti feminist rhetoric.
To create more equal chance for women (and other marginalized communities) on steemit, with women headed curation groups, organizations and more female witnesses!
Noteable moderators and contributors to the Team Girl Powa community:
Our experience with Team Girl Powa:
Feminism-identification aside, I have met some of the most woke and compassionate folk inside their channel. These are people who boldly support the intersectional feminist agenda, who kindly educate one another where their are confusions in the ever-evolving landscape of gender and human rights, and who discuss important topics we're apt to shy away from - but shouldn't. It's imperative for organizations as strong and mission-inclined as Team Girl Powa to exist, as they shape the landscape in which we share our journey to better understanding and supporting one another.
How to get involved:

- Use the #TeamGirlPowa tag to join the community.

Steemit LGBT+

Where the Steemit LGBT+ community converges on Discord.
The LGBT+ community movement on Steemit is fast-growing and ever-expanding. Their Discord channel is a welcoming, safe space with a strict entrance and acceptance policy, establishing a secure environment where members can be themselves freely. It's no secrety that the LGBT+ community is subject to internet trolls and nonsense, but rather than dwelling on the struggle, this community support's one another through a variety of LGBT+ oriented Steemit-based projects.
Steemit LGBT+'s commitment to equality, kind treatment, and safety:
Welcome to Steemit's LGBT+ Discord server! We will try to keep rules to a minimum, but experience teaches us that some things must be said:
1. You MUST write a brief introduction in the #introduce-yourself channel so we have a basic knowledge of who you are. This can be whatever you are comfortable sharing, but generally your Steemit ID and your association with the LGBT+ community are good places to start.
2. You MUST be respectful of the other members. This means, for examples, do not DM a member without their permission to do so and do not bring up topics you know other members are uncomfortable with. We don't care if you think this is censorship. If you cannot exercise good judgement, this is not the place for you.
3. You MUST understand and accept these rules to be granted full access to the server. This is not open to interpretation and we will kick/ban you if we feel you have not done so.
Can I get a raise of hands who would love if every place on Discord was this respectful? [hand raised emoji]
In addition to this Discord channel, Steemit LGBT+ member @Misomaniac created
PRP-LGBT
Which stands for: P=Peace R=Respect P=Pride | L=Lesbian G=Gay B=Bisexual T=Transgender
In their introduction post, @prp-lgbt outlines their commitment to strengthening and showcasing the blockchain LGBT+ community.
My plans for this month will be promoting and sharing this account. I want this account to grow and to be a hang out sign for the LGBT-Community! In April I want to publish the first part of the magazine. I have planned 2 Magazines per Month. I would like to talk about LGBT laws in all kinds of countries, about events, about tips, about news and I would also like to promote 1-2 posts from the community. And of course, good contributions will be resteemed. All you have to do is use the lgbt tag!
Read the introduction to this online magainze and get familiar with the growing LGBT+ community on Steemit!
Our experience with Steemit LGBT+ and PRP-LGBT:
As a female-forward organization, I was worried our mission wouldn't seem inclusive enough to benefit the LGBT community. These concerns were wiped away as the LGBT community has opened their space to the Ladies of Steemit and empowered us to be of service to the LGBT community as a whole. Our commitment is to showcasing female and femme-identifying voices and by including the men who support them and persons of all identifications, we strengthen our ties as a universally accepting community!
How to get involved with Steemit LGBT+ and PRP-LGBT:
- Join the Steemit LGBT+ Discord channel.
- Follow @prp-lgbt.
- Use the tag #lgbt to join the community.

Feministeem
created by @beanz
Feminism is not a rulebook, but a discussion, a conversation, a process.
Tavi Gevinson, quote from the introductory post for @feminism.
The newest Discord community in this group and by far the most focused, Femini-Steem and their Steemit counterpart @feminism are specifically oriented toward feminism-related discussion, publishing, and community development.
I'd like to point out that when you visit their profile, you'll notice a low rating and not very many posts. This account was previously managed an anti-feminist troll and has since been acquired and converted to a feminism-haven by @beanz.
As a new organized community, here's what @feminism is creating for their members:
This is a server which intends to host many walks of both feminism and humanism. We may not agree when people prefer to call themselves humanists rather than feminists but if you advocate for gender equality then every feminist should appreciate that regardless of what ideological titles you take. For this reason we have 2 roles which grant further access to the server. @Feminist & @Humanist
Every @Feminist is also a @Humanist but while we might also argue that every @Humanist is also a @Feminist the feminist role will only be given to those who want to claim it as how they would identify. We appreciate your presence even if we disagree with your take of what feminism is.
How to get involved with Femini-Steem:
- Join the Femini-Steem Discord channel.
- Visit and engage with @feminism to help raise the plummeted ranking.
- Publish a feminist post and share it within their membership channel to establish your particpation.
