My first Gardening Experience at Far East Flora@ Queensway, Singapore

Hello, fellow steemians~ It's yet another bright and sunny day here in Singapore.

If you haven't know that in Asia countries, we are celebrating the Chinese New Year where you can pretty much see it anywhere that red lanterns were hanging on every house, nicely decorated with flowers and all sorts of decorations, ranging from auspicious feng shui status, caligraphy arts and etc..

It's the time of the year where my excitement for new year spiked and the mood certainly brightens up by the surroundings. So, for this year I decided to brighten up my apartment with a few plant decorations.

So, let me introduce you to "Far East Flora @ Queensway". I guess this is probably one of the largest wholesale floral empires in all of Singapore. The reason why I have chosen this place was proudly thanks to google recommendation and also due to the overwhelmingly good reviews on the internet.

Besides being a wholesaler, they are also one of the florists with over 1000 choices in flowers, gift baskets, baby hampers and florists provider to more than 140 countries from Singapore. Sounds magnificent don't you think so. After a few browsing through on the internet of their services and customer reviews. That is the time for me to take action!

Before entering the "Maze" which I called it because the place is already looking massive from far, I was already feeling amazed by the magnificent looking plant of "Mandarin Orange" Or "Kumquat Trees" that we placed right at beside of the entrance.

Why "Mandarin Orange" Or "Kumquat Trees"??

The reason is highly related to wealth and overall good fortune of a family. But the only reason why mandarin oranges or kumquat is because kumquat is being used to be a substitution due to the trend of a family moving into smaller apartments in the city. The tiny corridor is almost impossible to accommodate a gigantic plant like mandarin oranges, thus Kumquat fits perfectly for the criteria.

So, how does it bring luck and wealth?

The words orange and tangerine sound like the words for luck and wealth in Chinese especially in Mandarin and Cantonese which now everyone keeps the tradition. Not to mention the golden orange color symbolized gold or money. Thus, you'll widely see the word "吉" in many red packets "Hong Pau". According to the ancient beliefs, people also theorize that Mandarin oranges are able to spread positive energy and lift up a person's spirit. Thus, these trees are always placed in a pair right at the entry of doorway.

Look at the huge amount of tangerine trees they are offering~

Well, as much as I would love to have one at my apartment, but it's still a little too big for me but instead I had something else :D

Besides tangerine trees, they offered a wide array of floras and faunas. While the time I went was during the festive season, thus, I am not surprised to have seen all these red and blooming flowers that you can't normally find during the usual days.

Red and yellow is believed to be an auspicious color for all Chinese, so again, we were not surprised at all that most of the color we saw in the garden was mostly red!

Only if my apartment has some shades, I'll definitely have some of that around. A flower a day definitely keep your smile on your face all day :D

You may be surprised that I am telling you that my favorite plants are cactuses! In my opinion, they are the best plants on earth because they required the least care but having the ability to grow the strongest and healthiest :D After all, I don't really have the perfect green fingers to be taking care of the plants that require much care.

This is one of my favorite!! Reminded me of sea corals except it is on the soil instead of water.

If you're a cactus lover, you'll definitely understand how beautiful they are! Only if I am able to have all of them, that will be a dream come true. Watching them growing up it part of the perfect gift of all time.

But, just in case cactus is not your cup of tea, you'll definitely find something there. For example:

Indoor plants like Parlor Palm, Sanseviera, money plant, spider plant and etc. You name it you get it. It's totally a paradise for all nature lovers. Also, the best part was they even plant it in advance for you that you won't have any worries to plant it yourself.

But, for sure, if you wanted a little bit something a little different, you can of course, DIY yourself. From getting the earth, to different species of plants, fertilizers, and flower pots. You'll easily get it without any doubts.

A mass cane! The perfect plant that requires minimum care. Due to travelling, the time for us spending time a home is very limited, thus, plants that require less care is the best. P.S. please excuse me that my tiny little Christmas tree is still there.

Also, never ever miss this bright yellow chrysanthemum :D They are such a beauty~

Hope you enjoy this journey with me to the garden and find yourself some inspiration to get some plants in your house :)
