Dining Room Before and After with Thanks to the IKEA Gods

The renovations and upgrades are coming along quite nicely. Today I did some painting and hardware reinstallation. Yesterday's job was much bigger. My husband assembled furniture while I sorted toys and reorganized all the things. downstairs. My ADHD brain is very tired. But here's the thing: Our goal was to create a gaming and dining room. We did it! In fact, we played the Splendor Cities expansion there last night.

Alright. Time for some pictures. Before I share them, I want you to know there used to be nasty carpet covering the beautiful oak floor in this room. There is still a wallpaper border. It's going away. As are those curtains. Slowly but surely we are erasing the sins of our predecessors. Which means these "before" pictures are more "before-ish."

Actually, this second picture is more of an after-ish image. Prior to assembling the table, drawers and shelving unit, we moved a computer table with setup, got rid of a tall bookshelf and, of course, the carpet.

This is the nicest table we've ever had. We can actually all sit at it without elbowing one another. It can easily seat 10, which is great for having friends over. And the chairs--unlike the chairs to our other table--are not broken. Thank you, IKEA gods!

Alrighty then. Here's the current after:

I am taking color recommendations. My husband said something about one red wall. I am partial to purple. Then again, he's more likely to host friends in this room than I am. After all, I have an outbuilding to renovate into my business home!
