A Series of Essays on Love ~ Essay 1: We All Crave Love And Acceptance.

heart 1000.jpg

For those of you new to me I regularly speak to spirit since having an unexpected epiphany back in June 2016.

I am fortunate to have a spiritual team who love, guide and protect me. We all have this but most folks never actually connect with them whilst in their present physical incarnation.

I count myself blessed.

Some while back I was talking to Jason who calls himself “The Corrector”. He is a big gun in team spirit and is not to be trifled with! He is also mightily fair and loving.

This particular day he told me that I would write many books and that my second book would be about – LOVE.

(I still have to finish my first book, “Mama, Mama Are You There”, you can read the prologue here but, as the first draft is virtually completed, I have decided to start to gather my thoughts on LOVE.)

Over the coming weeks I intend to write a collection of stand-alone essays exploring love in it’s many guises. I cannot imagine that what I will write will be academic in nature; rather a homespun spin on what makes the world go around.

And that'd be Love my friends!

Essay 1 ~ We All Crave Love And Acceptance.

#love

Fundamental to all life, love can be as simple or as complex as a person wishes to make it.

When born all sentient beings can only thrive if they are lovingly nurtured. Even vegetation basks in the adoration of the sun, gentle breeze and rainfall – roots seeking out succour from the loving ground.

We all need love to thrive and long to be accepted for who we truly are without judgement or sanction and it is here that true love may flounder. For it is easy to love another who meets ones exacting standards, less so to embrace the unwanted hair in ones’ broth. And if you are that disappointing hair self-love can be difficult to cultivate, let alone maintain.

I remember the all-encompassing whoosh of love, that consumed me, the day that my son was placed upon my breast after a traumatic labour that, quite literally, nearly killed me. This pure little adorable person, packed with potential, was easy to love. Now a young man, intent on living life his way, he is less cute and rather bolshie - but I love him still.

Unconditionally.

I understand that he has his own life to live on his own terms and, as long as he is healthy and happy, his daily doings and choices are not mine to meddle with. I may offer advice and guidance and be sad when ignored but this emotion is of me and, as such, is mine to deal with.

Love should always be unconditional but, tragically, many people do not grasp this simple truth and thus love becomes a weapon to wield power over another.

To be able to love healthily a person must first be able to honestly love themselves ~ pustules ‘n all.

Someone who has been encouraged and loved unconditionally as a child is fortunate to be standing on solid ground whereas the person who has been subjected to conditional love, abuse/neglect, will often find themselves on shifting sands. Concrete or sand - each of us has the freewill to choose how we face the world and forge relationships which reflect our choices. No one has the power to destroy the spirit of another person unless that person allows themselves to be broken.

Love is needlessly complicated by people who are ignorant and lack self- awareness and do not practice self-governance.

Love and respect are mutually dependent bedfellows. Respect for self and others is born through love of self which can then extend to others.

And (all) other things.

In spiritual circles the phrase “Love Is All” is often bandied around; trotted out as a salve for all woes and worries – but what does this actually mean?

With Love.
